Since my engine was replaced, the a\c doesn't work. I've checked the fuses, so I'm guessing the system was evacuated when the engine exchange was performed. The compressor is not activating so I'm going to give her a recharge. Is the low pressure service port the port located top, passengers side with the red cap?

NO! The one up by the radiator is the High Side port.

When recharging an A/C system always use the low side. On the V6 Malibu, this is located just in front of the firewall, behind the accessory belt routing. NEVER USE THE HIGH SIDE TO CHARGE!

Since the A/C needs to be running while charging, I will tell you to also be very careful not to let your forearm touch the belt while you are trying to get to the fill valve.

I had lots of problems charging mine last month. I finally bought the fill hose with the pressure gauge built in (as directed by sparkn on my previous post http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbu...ad.php?t=232246) and discovered why I had so much trouble. I didn't have the fill hose properly connected. The hose was difficult to attach, and I only discovered this when I saw that there was no low side pressure reading.

Thanks for the info. I will heed the nearness of the serpentine drive belt and its driven members.
