Also When I Have The Key In Access Position I See On Dash Panal The Words Anti Theft What Is This And This Is What Lead Me To Keyless Entry. Thank You Any Infromation.

I got my Maliu and wanted to know if it had keyless entry and all so I called a Chevy Dealership with the Vin number and they looked it up in there system....mine doesnt have it, but it was a custom order salesman car. Hopefully the dealerships in your area are as nice!

I had a '98 LS before my adventure in Maxxing, so I can probably help you out with figuring out if yours has remote or not. Need more details, though. LS or base? Options? I have the original '98 and '99 brochures, so that will tell if yours has it or not.

The theft light on the dash means that you need a new ignition lock cylinder, probably about $500. Assume you can't start it for about 15-20 minutes once it does that. Right?

Have fun; my '98 ate through 7 cylinders and was going for the 8th time, when, thank you dear Lord, GM offerred the Loyalty Bonus (in June). Which led me to the Maxx (no pun intended).

Harry,

If the Anti-Theft light is just staying on when the key is in the accessory position, I think that is OK. I haven't seen one of these vehicles for a while but I seem to remember that a couple telltales come on in accessory by design.

If it stays on when in RUN and the car starts then PDIGAD is in what is called "fail enable" which means the theft system has disabled itself. That is an OK state as long as not worrying about theft protection but not the best position to be in because something like a dead battery might reactivate the system and it would likely fail and give you a no start (which was likely the condition you had on your '98 causing the multiple ignition lock cylinder replacements)

As far as keyless entry, one idea is looking on the rear package shelf (metal that the rear speakers mount to) and see if there is a black electronic module attached there. That would be the remote keyless receiver. You likely can see its mounting feet from trunk by looking up.

An even better idea would be to look at the Service Parts Identification Label of vehicle.

The service parts identification label is placed on the spare tire cover panel in order to help service and parts personnel identify the vehicle's original parts and the vehicle's original options.

The option you are looking for is AU0
