I found this bike on Bikez.com and it just seems too good of a deal. I e-mailed the guy yesterday and I'm waiting for his reply. It's a 1999 Ducati 748 Biposto for 3,000!!!!!!! Well here's the link let me know.

I think this is a scam. IIRC, there was a posting of a similar Duc a year or so ago that seemed too good to be true. Then again I'm a cynical beeotch, so don't mind me.

Noob, caps lock key is the first key under the left-hand tab key, and first key above the left-hand shift key. Thx.

Probably a scam, eitherway, I wouldn't give it a serious consideration until you can test-drive it.

wtf? man will you stop trying to direct everyone over to the harley's.. just because you might ride one, or want one, doesnt make them better than jap bikes.. and whats this "it'll save you money in the long run" BS?

you know why theres a Ute or Van always following on a big biker cruise's? because one ALWAYS breaks down, there like rotory engines, and that comes straight from a bikers mouth.

so, while it might 'keep its value' when you go to sell it, what about the thousands you spent on maintaining it till that time comes?

Now im gonna say this being totally unbiased because most of my family members own harleys, but, they suck ass. Period.

:grinno: :grinno: That isn't a crotch rocket, you ignorant tool. That's a Ducati. A bike which is worth more than your life.

Harleys are outdated, overweight, underpowered pieces of shit. They can't handle, they can't turn, they can't brake. Come on, until the V-Rod, they used air cooled, pushrod engines!! They're dinosaurs!! :lol2: :lol2:

You're clearly one of those WCC/OCC/_CC sackriders. Learn a thing or two about bikes before offering advice on them.

hey pucher. your gunna get flammed every time you post until you learn to play nice. most of the guys (and hotties, tangie) are sports riders. i think most appreciate the harley but to come out and say what you have said is uneducated at best. oh yeah, give me back my shift key!!!!

to answer the original question "if it's too good to be true, chances are it is". if you cant see the bike and test ride it DO NOT BUY IT. you will lose your money. most of these scams run from offshore and require a direct deposit before the bike is "shipped". still it could be the deal of a lifetime

WCC/OCC RULE! Agreed that Harley's are not worth the money, unreliable, and not fun to ride long(vibration). I myself find "crotch rockets" also uncomfortable. A Ducati (if memory servers me) has a V-twin Harley engine. Ducati was started by former Harley workers I do believe. I myself LOVED riding my 2001 Honda Shadow Sabre. I was more reliable and smoother running than any Harley and alot cheaper to boot.

I thought Ducati are Italian bikes and regular competitors in AMA. If that being the case, why hasn't Harley ventured in? And speaking of Ducati being v-twin, so is Aprilia. That still doesn't clarify what you're trying to say, there's a world of difference between v-twins in streetbikes/Harleys, and the ones in sportbikes.

bike is not in the US, you will send him the money, but you will never get the bike.

You must be confused with Buell AMERICAN motorcycles.

first off i dont like occ one bite but wcc kicks ass. the shift key shit is funny it makes me laph.lol. well if i were to buy a rocket it would probably be italian made but i had no clue who made ducati. all i know is italians make good bikes. the only reason i bad moughed your bikes is cause people round here dont give harley a chance unless they ride one so i figured you guys were the same.i guess if youy respect what i like i can learn to respect what you like

The Big Four produced by Japan are the leading competitors, you don't see Ducati in Moto GP, only Aprilia representing Italian manufacture among the Big Four.

aussieidiot

italians make good LOOKING bikes but in comparison to a japanese they are more costly to run and service.

to puch. now you're playing nice. don't forget that you've just stepped into a big kids playground and relationships have already been formed. you're a newbie like we all were and we all needed to step lightly before really going at it in a debate.
play nice and well forgive you. also please try to get the spacing, spelling and grammar as correct as you can so we can all understand you. we aren't all yanks you know

if egcivic thinks that Z is this forums daddy, can i be mommy or is that to be left to tangie. he he he he he he

Hey now what's this with rotory engines? Sounds like a pretty good stereotype to me. :nono: Own a rotary? Drive one? Ok then.

i don't know where you can hang out and you can type so badly that its acceptable. but i accept that you are willing to play nice.

hey flex, who drives your white van? Z? he he. no-one drives a rotor for long, they all end up pushing it! ha ha F@#k aussie's are funny bastards eh Lyndon

also Z, don't ducati run in moto gp and have an aussie as a rider, brain not working and lost interest since rossi dominates.

They didn't make it this year, did they? That's what I meant. My mistake if they have, I just didn't see them in all the 125s, 250s, and 500s. Only in the AMAs I saw their riders talking shit.

hey, i love rx-7's.. first import i fell in love with.. rotors are beautiful smooth engines that make a sound equally as pleasant as the cars appearance , but you start tinkering and you start fixing and fixing and fixing, which is fine if you like to be under your hood alot anyway :)

I'm going to school to be a mechanic in the fall, so I'll be ok. The turbo models crap out sooner than the n/a's. The engine was replaced in my car at 115K. I have 75K on a crate motor right now. They do sound awesome.

Yeah I think the average is 15-20 mpg on them with some mods done.

Z_Fanatic
08-09-2004, 03:43 AM
huh? 15-20 mpg? the new rx-8 gets 18 mpg on average after all the engine improvements they made. someone i knew used to get 10 mpg from a slight-modded '94 turbo rx-7 on a good day. so he sold it later, too much maintenance.
