I just picked up a set of heads that are off the 71-72 corvette LT1...casting number 3973487. Are these compatible with stock 350, or are these the reverse flow jobbies? Also, I read these already have screw in studs? is that true?
I'm guessing that they are regular flow, but just want a second opinion...i didn't think they started the reverse until later on...anyway, they have the 2.02/1.6 and having them taken in to be magnafluxed tonight...

The 487 head and the similar 487x head are very popular with the dirt track racers in this area (SD,ND,MN,IA). I had a pair of each at one time, I wish that I would have kept at least one pair. What kind of information did you find on them?

the only info i found on them is that they were supposed to have screw in studs and guide plates factory installed...mine did not have either due to very early casting date. oh well, i had the machine shop install them for me instead...they tested out great, no leaks and no cracks...but they are suppose to be a great flowing head...that's all i know.

These are different than your newer TBI heads. The new heads are slanted for the intake bolts.
