i am rebuilding an n/a engine for my wifes 87 supra, and would like to get a bit more performance out of it. does anyone know of an engine performance rebuild kit? what companies have the best parts? what is the best performance mod i can do that doesnt cost alot? Any good stores in Canada? i dont need new pistons , rods or crank. I plan on a NOS of about 100 horse. Any and all replies are appreciated..
oh ya, is there any "chips" i can install in the car? ive heard about a Venom 400?

Well how much you looking to spend? NOS systems will just shorten the life of your engine. If you want real bolt on power throw a GReddy turbo package on there your wife will love the added performance I do.

what kind of HP could you expect with a GReddy turbo on a fresh rebuild ?

well depends you would need a boost controler and you could addjust the psi going into the engine and then you could tune your efi and get 100+hp

Thats the kit it is a little pricey but well worth the extra HP and will keep your engine lasting much longer then shooting NOS into your engine

hey if you want some je 20 over forged pistons 8.5:1 c/r and mkiv supra rods my friend is selling them because the clutch we dropped in it chattered so much it caused crankwalk and the thrust washers were slung into the oil pan...so...brand new shortblock for us! got it today! its pretty...=P
anyways, the pistons are great and only have about 3k miles on em. but you will have to get the block bored out 20mm over to fit these pistons. they have chromemoly rings on them as well...lowest friction rings available. dont know how much he wants for em but ill check.
also search around for a shop that will do ya about a 3 angle valve job and work the head out to hold some bigger cams. hks 264's are good, a lot of people go with the 264 intake and 272 exhaust cam just for even more power.
your crankshaft should be good up to a good 700 or 800 whp...maybe higher...dont know the mkiii to well. but definately get a much stronger and thicker head gasket to support that kinda engine setup especially if you bolt a turbo on. which if you get lower compression pistons you definately want to do. but with that kinda engine setup you could crank the boost out pretty much whatever you wanted (as long as you build a good fuel system to compensate for all that air being crammed in there) and be hauling some serious ass!
