69 chevy truck electrical

After an alternator bolt broke, the alternator to battery wire cluster completely metled. I sorted it all out and am pretty confident that its all very close to being connected the way it was with same gauge wire minus the fusible links. My out of the truck alternator tests are good and battery holds a charge of 12.96. There is no draining while the ignition is off. After starting the freshly rebuilt 305, there is no charge from the alternator to the battery. I am trying to avoid taking it to an electrician because of money and even more, embarassment!! There's only so much to this electrical system... Any advice? Anyone? Please?

change it to a one wire alternator all you need is the battery feed. did you just melt the wires to the regulator. it should read 14.4v

Check the connector at the fire wall I found alot of my electrical problems comming from there found lots of loose pins removed then one at a time and retightned them also added die electric grease

try running a small ground wire from neg post to the fender it worked on my 71
