ok...best engine to swap into a 2000 civic EX coupe. and for kickers i only have 6 grand to spend, and if there's money left over, what else should i add onto it like i would also like to supercharge it sometime. and i also need new tranny and ecu for it so throw that in there.
btw...the b18c is a turbocharged engine itself isn't it...and if it is, does it need mounts to fit into a 2000 civic? oh and would it be a good idea to upgrade the turbo in it? all newb questions i know.

If your going to spend 6 grand, then research the info before you buy. Thats alot to spend without researching first..........dont you think.
I only say this because you mentioned the b18c comes turbocharged.
Just give me $2000 and ill do the hard part for you. We'll spend the $4000 on the hardware.

i uh asked if it was turbocharged, and this is research, user feedback is research, and i asked if it was turbo cause the b18c(5) is a integra type-r engine and the Integra ls come stock turbo. and i've got another 5 months till i put a new engine in so i got some time to research. so if anyone has any more input or opinions without being a dick-cheese about it, it would be appreciated.

It wasnt being a cheese dick about it. you want info, well here ya go.
It doesnt matter what b series motor you drop in. Anyone will be fine for boost. If your going to boost on stock internals on a kit or custom, then stay on low boost unless you have some kind of engine management, then you can up it a bit. If you want to seriously boost, then you'll definately need internal build up.
Seems like you want the civic si b16a2 swap. That is a good swap. But it really doesnt matter which motor you get. The b series is more popular to boost on with hondas. The D series motors are also good motors to boost on. Although D series motors require a little more to work on in comparison to the B, a good D series turbo setup that can hit 12s and 13s is something to appreciate and awe at. but everything is just not about the numbers sometimes. So, you can boost on your current motor without swapping.
The question should not be ,"What motor is best to boost on?" It should be, "What can I afford and where do I want to be at."
If you have $6,000, then you can go get a b series motor, maybe one for $2,000 if you look good enough. Try your local junkyards, online performance stores, honda-tech.com, ebay, etc, etc, etc. Then buy your turbocharger setup (used around $1500 - $2500, new around $2500 - $4000, custom around $500 - $1500, these are just ballpark estimates). Cough up some xtra cash to get the hondata or aem ems with all the supporting hardware or at least hacks of some kind, then get it dyno tuned. When your done with all that then stand back and glance at your ride and figure out if your satisfied or not.
you want online research, well here ya go. Look at Richchet's link too:

go through all the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) there are tons of info in em that will answer your questions, educate you, and make you ask even more questions. Use the search feature, because there are many more people who have already came across your questions and problems, it is your best friend (if its not, then make it).
If you are a mechanically inclined individual then go get yourself a helms manual. It will pay itself many times over in the long run, unless you just want to pay for labor and can afford it all the time, id prefer to keep the money and put it into hardware, but thats just me.
Theres so much more to know before actually spending the money. Make sure you know before you buy.

If you researched you wouldnt have asked these very simple questions. Anything made by honda will not come out of the factory with any force induction. btw, it doesnt take research to know these facts either  If I was selling that 2000 civic ex to you and told you it was factory turbocharged. How would you know? ;)
Most, if not all forums dont tolerate people who come in asking simple fundamental questions that are the building blocks of their community. I would define ignorance not as the lack of knowledge, because we all suffer from that, but the lack of necessary knowledge. What knowledge one needs depends on what needs you have for knowledge :)

i was just schooled, thanks. that cleared up some stuff. now, with turbo, how much horsepower does it generally boost? and if combined with a intercooler, which you pretty much have to have right? it'll give it a nice boost. but i was reading like it says that turbo can give you 240 hp at the wheel, is that like tops or combined with your engines horsepower? that can't be standalone can it?

Considering the term "at the wheel," The hp measurements are measurements with everything on the car measured at the wheels. So.............the turbo and the engine and everything else useless or not is measured at the wheel.
the Hp is dependent upon many factors other than boost, so all cars will dyno differently. What companies advertise as their gains are not really accurate all the time if not most of the time with what people actually make. But, it is not all dependent on boost.
Air molecules expand when heated. A turbo charger is an air compressor which compresses air. The more heat there is, the less air molecules you can squeeze into the cylinders. If you can cool the compressed air (with an intercooler), you can get more air into the cylinders. Just add more fuel and a spark with the compress air in the cylinders.
Different people will have different bolt ons, different wheels, different dyno tunes, problems with their cars, etc, etc, etc. these are all factors that contribute to your car's performance.
Just go through everything in those links. Read em. I suggest you start with the howstuffworks site first. Its a prelude to other things to come.
