Yup. Yesterday I converted a large stack of hundred dollar bills into a mint '99 VR-4. Black w/black leather. 13K miles and garaged its whole life. It's in better shape and has less miles than my truck, and my truck is only 6 months old! It has the factory 10-disk CD changer and even came with the Mitsu OEM bra for the front and mirrors (already removed and not going back on).

So now I have a question. Since the car was used and I bought it from a dealership, I didn't get to talk to the original owner. But they were described as being "older" and they traded the car in on a Viper. So, that would tend to make me think everything on the car is completely stock, like it came from the factory.

But there is some lettering on the outside of the car that I'm wondering about. It doesn't look factory, but maybe it is. I'm hoping somebody here can tell me.

On the back of the car, on the left side, right next to where it says "Mitsubishi", it also says VR4 in silver letters that are bigger (i.e. taller) than the letters in "Mitsubishi".

And on each side of the car, just to the rear of the front wheels, it says:

T/
Turbo

just like that, with the "T/" on one line and "Turbo" just below it.

The lettering on the sides looks like the same type of letters as the lettering on the back. I.e. same font, same color, same size. And they all seem like they're just stick-on letters. And they don't seem like exactly the same font as where it says "VR4" on the door pillars.

So, can anybody tell me if this lettering (VR4 on rear and T/Turbo on sides) is factory? Or did the original owner add that lettering to the car?

Thanks.

I bet the dealer put that on, the word turbo is a big sales point and they want you to remember one reason why it's costing you so much. I would call and ask if you REALY want to know and they will tell you. Also you could ask the dealership if the warenty is intact (it won;t be if there are any big aftermarket modifications like HuGE turbo's which I believe you are wondering if it came with) and that is another way to find out. I an 99% shure the dealer slapped that on and it's just a sticker proclaiming to those not in the know that a VR-4 is turbo.

Congrats on the 99 and the no bra thing. I think your car is a few cars rarer than mine, 96 VR4 Spyder. I'm glad you took my advice about the bra, and I hope you do the same about the car cover . Just in case you forgot, move some of those motor cycles and cover them. Then put that beautiful car in the garage where it belongs. If your like me you'll be at the garage door, just looking it, might even decide you need better lighting. If you trust someone to drive it, have them follow you while you're driving your truck, and look at it in action in you rear view mirrors. You'll be finding store fronts that have reflective glass so you can look at yourself drive by, maybe circling the block a few hundred times. Finding window seats in restaurants so you can keep an eye on it. Anywho have fun and good luck.

Thourun, I love that smiley! Hilarious! I don't have pics yet. They told me they detailed the car before they put it in the enclosed transporter to ship it down here, so I was expecting an immaculate car. It turns out that the transporter was hella-dusty on the inside, which got all over the car. And then the transporter drove through heavy rain to get here, and it had a leak in the roof, so water dripped on the car. End result, a couple of spots where the dust and water turned to almost mud. It looks like crap at the moment. Well... as crap as a mint '99 VR4 can look, which is still pretty dang awesome. And I've been too busy driving it to wash it yet. :iceslolan I'll get some pics ASAP and put 'em up.

John, I already ordered my invisible bra to go on it, like yours. The kit should be here by the end of the week and then the car will be going to my favorite local window tinter to install it and window tinting. I decided not to put a cover on it, either. I read some stuff that basically said the cover would just attract cats, which is the opposite of what I wanted. So it will sit in the driveway uncovered. For now. Buying a new house with a bigger garage has now moved way up my ToDo list. Like I said, the garage is for bikes first and cars second.
