I've got a 92 S10 Chevy Blazer 4.3 4X4 V6 and I've got a code 45 on the DX. I;ve done the following: New Oxygen Sensor, New Map Sensor, new spark plugs, new air cleaner, new gas filter. What else can be done. It runs rough and misses. Where is this charcoal canister at and what does it do?

I believe it's under and toward the center of the bed.As far as what it does I don't really know.

charcoal canister is part of evaporative emissions system. it stores fuel vapors until your ecm tells the purge solenoid to release the fuel vapors to the engine to be burned. it keeps the fuel tank pressure low. gas in the tank creates pressure and it is released in to the engine at a specific time to relieve the pressure in the tank. if the valve is stuck open well your engine will be running rich and it will also act like it has a vacuum leak creating stalling, hesitation, and dying out. the easiest way to find the canister is to follow the fuel lines from the gas tank until it leads you to the canister.

oh also, you might want to change the cap and rotor if that year has one. i believe it does. this is part of a tune up.

The charcoal canister should be located in the engine compartment. On the 82-91 S10 trucks it is mounted on the rad support, drivers side, between the rad and the headlight. There are vaccuum hoses going in and out of it. It is really easy to replace.

Sorry, I should have said "82-93", instead of "82-91". It's early and I'm just waking up (only 1 coffee and cigarette, so far, I need a pot and a pack to fully wake up !!!)
