Can a faulty oil pressure sending unit cause the ECM to cut off both fuel and spark? We are dealing with a 95 Cavi.

If oil pressure doesn't come up in a few seconds, juice will be lost to the fuel pump but not the spark plugs.

When you turn the key to "run" ( before cranking it ) , you should hear the pump running for 2-3 seconds. If you don't crank it , the pump will cut off ( no oil pressure ).

My daughter's '94 Cav had a "will crank, but no fuel pump hum or spark" condition, problem was the ignition switch.

If you replace the ignition switch, the plastic housing around the steering column comes off easily ( torx head screws ) but BE AWARE there are two screws that hold the halves together hidden behind the steering wheel.

If you don't really care about it, and don't feel like pulling the steering wheel for two screws, you can get the housing off without doing any real damge and it'll go back together pretty much ok.

The module controls ignition up to 400 rpm then the PCM (computer) takes over. Seems overly complicated but thats what the book says.
