Need help - Q-Jet to Edelbrock

Hi everybody, I'm new to your excellent forum and need some help. Car is an 84 Z28 with 5.7 4 bolt, has the original 5.0HO carb and intake. I want to replace the carb/intake with an Edelbrock performer carb/intake. What problems am I going to run into because the Edelbrock carb doesn't have the 2 electrical connectors, 2 pin and 3 pin, that I'm assuming are connected to the computer?? I'd appreciate any help or experiences you might have..thanks..bruce

Those connectors are your throttle possition sensor. it's gonna help controll hour spark advance. I think if you get someting like an msd 6a box you'll be fine.

I did this one afternoon after wanting to be free. I bought a vacuum advance HEI style distributor, Edelbrock 600, and an Edelbrock intake. After installing the intake and carb, you need to wire the electric choke in to the original connector and neatly hide the remaining wires. You can use the same cap and rotor. When you get the vacuum model distributor in, use the connectors that went to the cap only - a few more wires to hide. Supposedly, the timed vacuum port is correct to go to the distributor - pass side port. Your engine will no longer be computer controlled, but will need to be timed. But you said that you have a 5.7 in there, and the computer can't feed it right anyways.
