When to change a timing belt?

when do i need to change my timing belt? i have a 97 hx and my manual says at 105k miles, is that posible? i meen honda is usualy good about there parts, so has anyone went past 100k miles before changing the timing belt?

you change the belt about every 80,0000km i think

hey, it's not complicated, you change it at each 100 000 km or each 60 000 miles. The fact is that you're timing belt can last much longer, but if you replace it properly, it won't be expensive. But if it break, it can damage other parts of your engines and then cost you an arm and a leg (I'm exagerating a little but you see the point).

Pre 95 belts should be changed at 80,000kms.
Post 95 belts should be changed at 100,000kms.
(year of manufactor of belt, not year it was fitted. :) )

Are u sure about those 80 000km for a pre '95 ?

I've always do it, hear it, recommend it at each 100 000 km. Well, it's not that important. Better too soon then too late.

Well I always thought they were all at 100,000k untill I looked through a book that listed belts for most cars on the NZ and Japanese market and it quite clearly stated that belts made before 95 only last 80,000kms.
A service tech at Honda told me the same thing.

i just looked at my manual and it says 105 at conditions that arent to cold and isnt to hot. so sence i live in colorado its middle all the time. and pre 95 is 80k miles, 96+ is 100k+
