NOW I KNOW WHAT I"M MADE OF!: VR4 vs NSX

for all of you who might for some reason care about me. i promise to never ever do anything this stupid again!

i'm on I-5 going north leaving my girls house. and as i was driving i hit some hard ass bump in the road. i figured this thing might have damaged my tire so i was about to get off the next exit to check.
when all of the sudden a glossy black nsx drives past me.

me: OMG what is wrong with me.

i cancel the plan and get behind the nsx. we get to an opening and i punch it, i wasn't even gonna wait to see if he wanted to race or not. as i'm passig him he punches it and because i jumped probably 3 sec before him i just slaughtered him the first run. so that didn't really count.

second run he gets behind me and we agian come to an opening. this time i wait to see his reactions. he punches it and gets on the side of me and i punch it maybe a second after. he comes up on the side of me and his bumper is on my door. but wait, whats this? i'm fucking pulling away from this guy by this time were at 115mph.
there's no cars for still some time up and i'm inching away from this guy. at 125mph i shift to 4th and still pulling and i'm like :eek7: oh shit i'm still pulling by the time we reached 135mph his front bumber was behind me by probably a foot and i'm fucking screaming "wooooohooooooo"
we shut down at 140mph.

me: NOW THATS WHAT I'M TALKIN BOUT, WHOOOOOO"

we then slow down to normal speed and the guy in the pasenger seat looks at me and gives me a thumbs up. i give him a nod and drive off.

THE SHOCKER

i swear on my grave, when i raced him i was not, i repeat was not using my boost controller. just hks intake, exhaust, twinturbo's pushing out 300+hp and cool night air coming through twin intercoolers.

I AM FUCKING PUMPED!

catch this: when i got home my rim was bent and tire is going flat. that will be $75. it was worth it :iceslolan sorta

it was unsafe yes, but from the sounds of it it was fun as hell so it all works out. you bent your rim, but had a hell of a time doing it so it's all good!

good race but still a very unsafe race man. If that tire blew at 140MPH and it was prolly VERY close to doing it cause it already had a leak, your car would rolled for atleast 1/4 of a mile if not more, you prolly wouldnt be here to post this. But i guess thats what street racing is all about, the adrenaline rush.

It's a never-ending cycle. I get a car, think it's fast, drive it around for awhile, read stories of other people's fast cars and suddenly your car is not fast enough anymore. I need a new car....sigh!

I've been in one, and I've seen them dyno'ed. VERY over rated in the performance catigory while their handling is awesome!

125mph in 3rd gear? Wow you're car would have a theoretical top speed of 210mph. Humm I think you got your speed wrong on the gear change or your gear selection confused. Either way nicely done.

not all NSX's are that fast. the earlier 5 speed 3.0 versions only makes 270hp and only runs a 13.7 hardly quick for its money.

its the newer 98+ models that you gotta look out for. those makes 290hp and more tq from a 3.2 liter v6 mated with a 6 speed gear box with larger and wider wheels.

now those are 13 flat cars.

now theres something to think about. to drive a AWD car with one tire flat makes the car extremely slow. know imagine if you have 4 round tires filled with air.

unless my speedometer is off(wich is very possible) then i def shifted shortly past 120mph, about 123mph.

from what i know

1st gear is inbetween 50-55
2nd gear is inbetween 80-85
3rd gear is inbetween 120-125 (reason i'm saying inbetween is because as soon as i redline, in between shifts is when i look at the speedometer)

not sure about 4th but i've been to 150mph in it and still had plenty room to go

i wasn't talking in regards to their straightline performance

NSX is an excellent road car...but i don't hear people talking big about them as far as their straight lin performance

i really dont like the gearing of my car, but now i dont think it is that bad seeing how badly your car is geared.

yeah i checked with some other 3kgt buddy's.

5 speeds 3rd gear is 125mph
6 speeds 3rd gear is 115mph

i just had to make sure with the other guys cause i heard that speedo's can mess up at high speeds some times. but yeah my speedo wa def past 120mph

Haha, yeah a 1991 NSX runs a 14.4 stock. That's pretty damned slow for a $90k car. And then if you take into account elevation, if it was over 3500ft the VR4's twin turbo's created a HUGE power difference since the NSX is an N/A car.

But yeah, any 1997+ NSX is frightfully fast(at sea level). And I think the new NSX-R in Japan runs a 12.8 stock. Although they may not be the fastest straight-liners...I've heard that they can take a McLaren F1 around a twisty track.
