What are some good reasonably cheap speakers? I am looking for 6x9's and 4x6's. The most i wanna spend on the pair is 175, what are some good brands to look at. I want good sounding speakers with nice bass. A few suggestions on where to look?

for $175 a pair you can get pretty much anything the big retail companies sell, some pioneer three way's always give a solid mid-range performance. They tend to hold very up well in humid as well as dusty places. I have no experience with them in cold weather (like NY gets) but I'm sure they would be fine. Best Buy, Circuit City, Sound Advice, whatever's close to you should have something compareable. I personally like and have the Alpine Type-R's but unless you're willing to throw down some more money I'd stick to the basics.
Hope This Helps...

Ha...you wont get both of those if theyre Type-Rs. You might as well settle for some Pioneers in that price range, or if youre lucky you could find some Infinitys. Start off with door speakers though...and if you are willing to spend $130 just on those you can get Type-R components, which is the woofer and then a separate tweeter to mount wherever you want, but those are usually round...not oval ones. Put 4x6s in the back maybe, unless youre not too concerned about quality, and/or dont have a sub.

the 6x9s go in back and the 4x6s up front
