I just bought a 97 corolla and have noticed that my engine idles high when the engine is cold. For instense at first it will idle at 1100RPM and will drop to about 900RPM when the engine warms up. I was just wondering if this is normal and shouldn't be a problem or is something to be concerned about? Or is this normal for all cars?

that's what mine did all winter. if it freaks you out, just hold the break and put it into drive...that'll bring the rpm's back down to the normal level

I have a '95 manual, and it idles at 1600rpm when its cool out, I have not had the tach in long enough to know what it idles at below freezing. I thought it was high too, but when she's warm, its sits @ 700
