E36 master key

I purchased an 1992 325i a few months back and the master key was not available. All I have is the valet key, which of course does not operate the trunk or glove box. And, I have np spares. I went to a delaer and ordered a replacement key from BMW and the one they sent based on the VIN did not work. That tells me the locks were probably changed in the past and the master key and any spares were lost. I have heard you can buy a new lock set and replace all locks. Is that the best way to go or are there any other suggestions?

I think your best bet is ordering a complete lock-set
'coded' to the VIN from BMW. The ign. tumbler is a quick change, the trunk and glovebox fairly easy, the door cylinders will take some dissassembly to replace but not a difficult job........................jeffb.
