I have a 95 GP after driving for a while it overheats 230-240 with ac on driver side fan runs pass. side never turns on the elec. motor is good. I dont think the driver side fan stops even with the ac off? any ideas. switched the relays around driver side fan still works pass. side does not. I have heard the Temp Switch could be the problem? or how about the temp sender? Thanks!!

:smokin: is it acually overheating or is your temp. gauge giving you a high reading?i would try installing a temp. sensor.had the same prob.and she works fine.... :2cents: :smokin:

Can someone translate that?

i know this is ghetto but it worked for me. pull out the relay, use a bobby pin, and touch two terminals together. if the fan turns on you need a relay. if not, it could be the fan.

Here's my best effort:

My GTP also overheated. I changed it's thermostat to 160 degree, and did something good to the radiator, which included work on the fans. The problem is now gone, even though I live in Mexicali, where the temperature frequently goes above 50 degrees C. (122 F)

Surf2 is saying that the car may not be overheating. He is saying that the senor may be bad. If the car is not overheating, look some place else. If you have water blowning out of the over flow THEN it's overheating. If not the senor may be telling that it's hot. Does that help you GTPCatz? But you already knew that, right?

if your car is a 3.1, more likely than not, you have air in the system that needs to bel bled out. These engines are famous for intake manifold leaks, which allow air into the system, which in turn gets trapped behind the t-stat. There are bleed valves on both the t-stat housing and on the transfer tube near the water pump. Anytime the cooling system is opened, or if a leak allows air in, you must follow the proper bleeding procedure, otherwise, you will get crazy high guage readings, and your fans will not turn on because they are not in contact with coolant.

My son,s 96 prix is doing that same crap. Cant seem to keep water in it. I replaced a leaking water pump a week ago hoping that was the problem but it is still losing water. I checked the oil for signs of water but thankfully that is not the problem as I understand the 3.1's are notorius for head to block failures. If it is not bleeding into the engine then it has to be leaking out but I have not seen any signs of leaks under the hood. Anyway other than head issues what other problem areas does this car have that I can look for?

Sorry Catz. But I translated the one I understood. I didn't understand Supercharger GTP at all. But you already knew that, right?
