Ok, so I got it hooked up fine, then I try to take it out, and wow, I don't have a 1st, 3rd, or 5th gear. The damn thing is in the way of the shifter cables. In a rush for work, I tied the thing to my FIPK mounting brackets with a vacuum hose. This worked for a minute, then I lost 3rd and 5th again...I am trying to fix it really quick so I can go to a huge car show tonight while it is still light out...I know Matt moved his to where the battery used to be. And I did some searches, but got nothing really helpful...I am about to ziptie it out of the way. But I was hoping for a fix a little less ugly and a bit more permenant...any ideas...also if anyone is a member of 3si...could you possibly do a quick search on there for me, I've been scanning the past 20 pages of posts, but havn't found anything. I knew I should have signed up on there awhile ago.. thanks in advance, Geoff

from used to having a 1st gen dsm bov, the auto tranny is a bit thicker than the manuals, and therefore couldnt put any blow off valve in the stock location because it interacted with the shifter cable for my car. What i did, was i took my intake T-pipe to home depot, and found a small piece of pvc pipe to fit there, and a couple of clamps. I then clamped the pvc pipe into the intake t-pipe. Then i went to autozone, and found me a radiator hose that would fit over that, and had some sort of u-bend in it, in which i customly cut the hose with sissors, and clamped it to the other end of the pvc pipe and the other end of the hose to the bov. Then i found a slight bend in another piece of radiator pipe to hook from the bov to the y-pipe. After that, i had myself a relocated blow off valve.

Thanks...I'm hestitant to even venture to home depot or lowes, as the last 4 times I've gone there for something for my car, all I get are puzzled looks when I reply to "Well what are you going to use it for?", and then they just tell me to try pepboys. I'm actually convinced most of their hired help is actually trying to turn away business from the store. But I will try that today, thanks alot. I did find a $17 relocation kit from RobBeck on 3si, but I want it working today.

update: Home depot "Try pepboys"
Pepboys "Try Home Depot"

So after 4 hours I still don't have anything to show for it. Neither have the right size hoses. I took my stock BOV to home depot and they didn't have the right size, and Pepboys said they didn't have anything the right size either...of course the bastard only eyed it up rather than actually measuring it. I'm pretty damn frustrated and I need all working gears tomorrow. Did anybody else tie theirs off and out of the way...I can't get mine to hold out of the way long enough...it already bent the FIPK bracket I had it tied to. Any help at all would be great.

Sorry I have been away from the boards for awhile, im in the middle of my cars build, today i just put on my front mount and blow through with LS6 mas and relocated my GReddy type S again, it is now on the main intercooler pipping thanks to some custom work from Dejon Tool. But originally, i encountered the same problem your having man. The fucking BOV was hitting my shifter cables, so i made a quick and nicely permanent fix by getting some radiator hose, cramming it into the stock BOV location, and moved it up towards the place where my battery used to be, I put the adapter on the BOV and then crammed the type S into the radiator hose. With another piece of radiator hose, i attatched to the vent point of the BOV with hose clamps(I use hose clamps for everything, that and zip ties, best fucking things in the world) and then ran that piece to the Y-pipe BOV hole. Hooked up the BOV vacuum lines and i was good to go. If you need anymore help just PM me, BTW, not to highjack or anything but, im estimating my car at the track completely finished late September, early October.

hell, just go to autozone or advanced auto parts, everytime i go there, they're like "here, just come on back and look for what your looking for" and i'll find it

Good news and good news.
A) went to autozone, they were closing, but gave me 5 mins in the back to look...it was a huge wall. I didn't find it today, but they told me to come back tomorrow and I can look all day if necessary. I'm officially boycotting pepboys and sticking with Autozone forever...or at least for this week

2nd of all, I wanted to tune the BOV, so I just tied it down again with a rubber hose(zipties broke under pressure). So I still have no 5th gear, but I did get 1st and 3rd back. And HOLY %^$# the turbos respool fast. I feel like so much lost power just returned. It still doesn't feel as torquey as it should, but it still feels alot better.

I've also figured out that my problem with the boost gauge showing no boost in 1st, and being all over the place in every other gear was due to the fact that the fitting that clamps down on the hose was too tight. So I am going to run proper vacuum hosing to it now, and throw out that Autometer plastic crap. So even a bad day can be redeemed with some reading on here, 3si, and a few beers.

Update: For anyone who may encounter this problem in the future, I just found this.

http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=214530&page=1&pp=10

Specifically the hose#,

"I got it from autozone. I think it's a goodyear. Part number 1241 is on the sticker. It also says 62271. You'll need a 1 inch hose coupler for the discharge side. Autozone has a kit that comes with 2 other size couplers."

He has pictures in this thread as well. I'm doing it tomorrow morning. But I figured I'd post if anyone else ever ran into this and didn't want to deal with incompetant store employees all day.

Matt and Hotshot, thanks for the help.

Final update:
It works. I went to autozone and they couldn't find that part number...so I just pulled out my stock BOV, found a straight pipe that fit. I went home, sawed the radiator hose down. Used the stock inlet hose as the recirculation hose, and the new hose as the BOV inlet hose and got it to fit right between my FIPK and battery. It is a tight fit against the FIPK, but it works.

So if anyone ever tries this, all you need is a straight radiator hose that will fit the BOV, 2 additional hose clamps and a 1.25" hose coupler. Total cost $11.
