Hi,
My name is Chet and I am looking for advice on a V8
conversion for my fj40. It has the origonal 6 in it now. I am looking for injection. Is a crate motor worth it? Also I was wondering about exhauhst. I do off roading and would like to hill climb.
Thank you

hey chet
the FJ40 would have to be on of the best fourbys ever created but they can lack allot of power and is why i understand why wou would like to convert it into a V8,
I havent actually don it myself but i know it has been done,
hear down under we have a holden engine that might be great for you and i thing that you will be able to find one over there it is the GENIII
a chevy engine.
i also agree that you need a new exhauhst.

Chet, Don't put GM junk a ina original FJ40. I will buy your FJ off you. then you can find one in bad shape to hop-up or a Jeep. You will make money in the process!!

That's fine, to each there own, but don't DESTROY a MINT LC with a TRIED AND TRUE STOCK STRIGHT SIX!! The drive line is not meant for a V8. You could get a Full size GM Blazer that had a 350 or put one in it if it had the 305?? And they are allot easier to get parts for and to find atleast in the states! I would give anything to have a POOR CONDITION LC from your neck of the woods. I will send you all the GM junk we have around here!!!

Think about an HEI conversion for your distributor. The gain in power and fuel economy changed my mind from a v8 conv. Best mod I ever made.
