1994 Explorer has died on the road 5 times so far. All while accelerating. The engine just shuts off and you can't start it again for atleast 2-3 hours. It has been taken to 2 different shops and both have stated that they could find no problems electronically or mechanically. Does anyone have any clue what may be wrong?

Could it be the same thing that is triggering the others not to start (like in other posts in here) ... maybe your fuel pump is overheating and not sending fuel to the enging ?

ECU.....I beleive it is located in the engine compartment on the drivers side right above the wheel.

your coil pack on your distributerless ignition might be overheating and shutting down. this is a common problem with fords also check the grounds for the pcm. if it was fuel it would probably have sent a code but check your fuel pump relays
