you need a special tool called a pulley puller.I was able to borrow one from Autozone through the loan-a-tool for a full refundable deposit.

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/banghead.gif This is how I feel putting the pulley back on! I got a brand new pulley for it but I just cant get it to go more than half way! My next idea is pull it off and open it up a little... Is there a GOOd way of doing it?! And don't tell me to press it on cos you have to put it in after the pump is n the vehicle. It's a 95 2.3 ranger. Thanks

Try heating the pulley around the hole and using plenty of oil to put it back on.If you open the hole it might slip around the pump shaft.Hope this helps.
