X5 AC always on?

I just purchased a 2001 X5 4.4 and I noticed that when I start the car the AC always turns on in auto mode. Even when I ensure that "everything" is turned off before I turn the car off. My local dealer tells me that they can not control this, that it's part of the BMW auto climate settings. Somehow I find this hard to believe. Can someone confim that this is true? Or is there a setting/programming option I need to have done?

Try setting the climate control unit to what you want and then put your ignition key in and set the seat memory. Your seat memory will remember your mirror positions, radio settings and climate setting along with the seat and steering column position. Next time you get in the car and adjust your seat to your memory position everything will work the way you want. The only catch is that every time you get in the car you have to push your seat memory button.
I am not positive on this, but it may work when you hit the unlock button on your key as well... :smokin:

Yes, the key for the X5 does indeed control seats, mirrors, and climate. Not sure about radio though. I would take it to the dealer and have them reprogram the key for you. If you look online (Google it) you may find instructions on how to do it yourself.
