hey guys, i just wana say that I got my prelude. Its a 1996 HOnda Prelude S. Manual trans 130000 miles and and it drives like a beast, no car has beaten me on a clear road yet, maybe because there were no fast car, or maybe my S is just ridiculously powerfull. i duno. anyways, my question: I see that for example Mustangs have big horsepower and torque but they have it at very small Rpms. so What does that mean? is that better for racing than if they were to have the amount of HP at higher rpms? If 2 cars that had the same amount of HP and Torque but Car #1 had it at 3000 Rpms and Car#2 had it at 5100 rpms, which car would be faster? on short distance and on long distance? Somebody please explain. Thanks.

The car with the rpms kicking at 3000 would be alot quicker and alot better for short distance. The rpms at 5100 would be a long distance because it takes so long to get up to speed. If they were to race the 3000 would leave it back to back from light to light, but when that 5100 catches that car on the highway its all over.

ok, thanks Darhem. hey Sballerk, it looks like you think that Stangs are better cars than Prelude, i duno, it seems like you do, but no offense. I personnaly think that Stangs or Camaros or Fire birds or those other muscle cars are CRAP. I say it because GM motors couldnt make a good sport car with a small engine, they needed to put their V8s and V6s that take a whole lot of gas and they can be beat by some small engine car if hooked up right, Ford couldnt make a 4 cylinder car that wouldnt even come close to being as well made and be as powerfull as a Prelude, so there's nothin to be proud of. If Honda wanted to put a V8 on some car, then it would put all those "Stangs" in the dirthole. So those people who are proud of driving in a Mustang or Camaro, and think that cars like Prelude are Sh**, they are the biggest unknowlegable retards of all ! 4 cilinder JDM Prelude Vtec would kill your V6 Mustang and if a 4 cilinder car can beat a V6 then that just proves that Stangs are a piece of shit. SO there.
ALso I have another question, At What Rpms would I get the quickest start off so that the tires dont spin, and can someone explain how to test that. Also at What Rpms, should I switch gears at normal driving / race driving? Thanks.

Alright at regular driving you should take your rpms to maximum of 4000. For racing it depends on what car you have, but for my car (91 accord stock for now) I shift it at about 6200. Try shifting the car at about 6500, that should be the maximum pull of your gear I think. If your trying to get a good start at the light, hold you clutch down, hold the rpms at about 2000 to 3000 and as you see that green light take off. That should send that car inot a launch, you'll see what i am talking about when you do it

well... not to start any Sh*t or anything but just becuase Sballer says a stang would beat your prelude doesnt mean he's hating on prelude's, he infact owns a prelude so im sure he doesnt hate the prelude that much, as for Stang owners that think preludes are sh*t you shouldnt hate on someone just becuase they like their car better then someone else's your doing the very same thing youself.
