has anyone with a b16 in their crx gone for a top speed run? i'd like to know what mine will do, my speedometer only goes up to 120 and tonight i hit 116 but ran out of road. i was at 6700 rpm and it will go up to 8200 i think. i dont think my jdm pw0 ecu has a speed limiter. my friends 5th gen civic(all stock) would shut off at 104. i might have to have one of my buddies with a bike roll next to me to see what i can get up to.
thanks

i think we had a long ass thread about this a long time ago ... i dont feel like searching but just put in " top speed " or something like that.

If it doesn't have the rev limiter it should hit 134-140. Becareful though....too much stress on the motor.

it also depends on the tranny...b16 with a y1 tranny...about 135-140...
b16 with an s1 tranny...160...but it takes u longer to get there...

I had an j1 tranny and i reached 143 tops. S1 has short gears as the J1. Same gear ratio as the USDM type r. So how is it gonna take longer to get there? I really dont see how it can reach 160 at all.

i was comparing the y1 to the s1 not the j1. The Y1 has faster acceleration but a lower top speed. The s1 has a slower acceleration but a higher top speed.

Bro the S1 is the same as J1...same gear ratio. Either way i dont think its gonna reach 160. I was at 143 on my mugen chipped ecu but i had only an rpm and half left otherwise i'm gonna lose power.

i think ur talking about the jdm S1 which is the same as the JDM J1.
I'm talking about the USDM S1 which came in the 90-93 integra rs/gs/ls. There is a huge difference between the two trannies gearing. My boi used to have the USDM s1...top speed was 160..but he switched to a y1 for the better gearing...
just a little confusion that's all.

ahh damn boy you should've said something in the begining! Did he get his ecu chipped?

my bad...yah...just a local boi chipped it. Removed speed limiter, lower vtec activation point, increased rpm's to 9k, and better fuel curve...PR3

He increase the rpm to 9k? Did he built up his motor? If he has stock cams ...it'll lose power and not even that. If he upgrade the cams, it still wont handle 9k on a stock motor. All motor ppl (such as myself) built that shit to handle 8900 to 9500 and its not easy work either. I'm suprised his valves didn't float.

I thought that the 90-93 Integra has the YS1 transmission except the 92/93 gsr??

hey this makes me think (i dont mean to be a thread stealer if it seems that way) = if your on the high way and you have a long journey/ stressing your car around 4 grand in 5th non stop. how long would it take before or would it even blow out? Let's pretend theres a turbo thats spooling also, but your keeping it at 4 grand.
what if your on the interstate spooling at 6 grand, do you think the motor might crap out after how many minutes or hours?

i dunno, i drove my stock LS with USDM S1 tranny at around 110 for four hours across nebraska and into denver... that was pushing 5krpm and i had no problems whatsoever.. only stopped once for gas but was not longer than 10 min stop and had no trouble starting and taking off again.

another thing im thinking about is that some people actually use the rev limiter. I know somone who has a setting around 3 to 3300 (launching only), that way when he launches at the drag strip, he's already got a decent amount of power to the wheels but not overpower.

well...the 90-93 ls/rs/gs trannies are S1
the 92-93 GSR trannies are YS1
but there are exceptions...sometimes Honda likes to switch it up for some reason....there were some 90-93 LS trannies marked YS1 but they were just normal ol' LS trannies....
can be confusing when ur looking for a certain tranny...

if you're on the highway, your turbo shouln'dt be spooled, unless you have a very very very small turbo.
cruising at highway speed should be almost no throttle at all. On my turbo, anything less than 1/4 throttle or so wont budge the turbo, but if im at 4k rpm on the highway and step on it, it instantly jumps to 10psi

So you went 110mph over a period of about 300 miles...in other words going 110 for 2 hours 45 minutes and you got 50 miles per gallon? For some reason, I highly doubt that.
