How will it sound?

I have a 1995 Ranger with a 4 cyl. 2.3L engine and i want to put an exhaust on. I was looking at the Dynomax bolt on kit, which uses a super turbo muffler. I would just like to know if my truck will still sound like a truck and not a small import car. Also if anyone has any other good systems to use for a resonable price let me know. thanks

My last exhaust was a Dynomax, sounded better than a stock exhaust, but I've heard that flowmaster exhausts sound even better.
I'd think that the only way it'd sound like a rice burner is if you ran a straight pipe or put one of those "coffee can, fart pipe" mufflers on. ugh! Good luck

EVH5150,

Does the Dynomax muffler give a deep sound or is it more whiney sound? because i've heard they r a little whiney. Also how is the quality on them?

they're not that whiny... you'll be happy, but you'll be thrilled with a flowmaster... The quality on dynimax is decent.
I guess if you can fork over about $80, get a flowmaster delta 40 from jegs, and then take it to your local muffler shop and have them replace the stock muffler with the flowmaster {and then (if you want-extra $30) put new piping from the muffler back if you want it to look custom or to get rid of crush bent piping.} That's what i would do.

I have a 94 Ford Ranger with the 4 banger in it. I went the cheap way and just bought a 20 dollar cherry bomb glasspack. Its the best thing to do if you want a decent exhaust for cheap. It dosen't sound like a ricer and i actually like the sound of it. And screw takin it to your muffler shop to put it on, if you can do it yourself. It may take awhile depending on the tools you have but its cheaper. Unless you screw it up then your kinda outta luck.

As I stated in a previous post a cherry bomb or any kind of cheap glass-pack is something you will regret soon enough. the sound is just plain horrible and it gets worse in time. sorry, but you cant make a small engine somthing its not. you can get a 3.0 or 4.0 to rumble nicely, but a 2.3 or 2.5 has no chance. face it, youre truck was not made to go fast, go off-roading, or anything else besides getting from point a to b. the best thing you can do to have a non-ricey exhaust sound is a 302 swap.

but flowmaster 40 series is youre best bet for a 4-banger.

Ok, I don't know much about my truck. I've got a 2000 ford ranger 4 cylinder, and I know that it is not meant to be fast, but will adding one of these mufflers you guys have been talking about make the truck any faster??

Dude, buy a mustang.

youre truck is slow, and "one of those mufflers" wont do crap for you exept make it sound like the rest of these pos 4-bangers. If you want power in youre truck, skip the bs and go straight to a turbo and/or nos.

I never said that a Cheery Bomb was going to be the best thing. BUT for a budget buy it works pretty good. its only 19 dollars and such an easy install. I make only 6.65 an hour and can't always afford a Turbo Muffler or completly swap a perfectly good 4-banger. Plus the 4 Banger gets great gas milelage. And it really dosen't sound like a ricer or POS with glasspacks.
