strange noise...

I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem with their turbo eclipse. When I start my car and proceed to move, I hear a noise, sounds almost like air being released from the turbo or somethin, kinda sounds like a pshhh sound, it only does it when i start the car and then go forward or in reverse, if the car sits at an idle and then I move, it does not make the sound. Any help on this matter would be appreciated. thanks, ZjP

are you sure it is not the Blow off valve?

could be a leak like mine when i had the MBC hooked up wrong

Yea my car doesn't do that. I don't know why it would make the sound only when you start the car and first drive it...it doesn't continue to do that when you are driving?

I hate to overtake this thread, but I'm too lazy to start a new one.. anyways, my car also makes a very funny noise at startup. It happens for about 2 seconds after the car is running, and then it quits. It sounds like a loud crackling/grinding kind of thing. Since it only does it at startup, I'm thinking maybe it's the starter? Anyone ever had a problem similar to this? Also, is there a way to fix it without spending $100 on a new starter? Thanks :)

may be the noice you are hearing is the fuel pump sucking the fuel from your tank?

so does it only make the sound for a short period of time after you start it up?

im pretty sure the noise im hearing isnt from the the fuel pump. it may be from the blow off valve. i only hear the noise for a second or two whenever i move the car, the most strange thing is that i can start it up and let it idle for as long as i want, but it wont make the noise untill i move it, so im pretty sure it has somethin to do w/the turbo or the blow off valve.

Does it still make the noise if you move the car slowly? If so get someone to drive it with the hood open and see if you can hear where it is coming from

Sorry Jaka was not my intention I didn't realize that I had the caps lock on and I didn't know that it was so disruptive, sorry again everybody.

ok, ive now tried the have someone else drive the car and walk beside it to see if i can hear where the noise is coming form, sounds like its coming from the turbo, any suggestions???

check the stupid things first. :D see if your cover for your timing belt is rubbing.

i had a very similar noise that only lasted a few seconds. it was the plastic cover rubbing the belt.. once it got warmed up, i couldnt hear it anymore

yes me 2 , i have a sound that sounds like the power steering belt but its in pulses for a couple seconds right when i start the car then it stops
