you probly just didnt put the distributor back on in the same position. Loosen the 3 bolts holding it on and turn it till the car sounds like its running good. Take it for a drive after that then come back and thank me :p Hope it works...

Did you put it 180 degrees off? When I took mine i did that by accident.
You didn’t take off the rotor did you? If not than it could be way off...or you but it back on 180 degrees off...its really easy to do if your not paying attention.

The rotor can only go on one way, so i dont think its that, unless it fell off. It definetly sounds like timing. When we were trying to get this old POS jetta to start we had the firing order wrong and it backfired so hard it kicked the intake of the TB.

Hybrid1990crx is the screw hole on your dizzy going all the way through??you know the one that holds on the rotor.
i think my dad tapped it all the way through and thats how you would get it wrong on "my dizzy" i dont think they came like that...sorry i forgot...
and if he took off the whole distributer there are two prongs coming out of the back... he could have easly put it back in 180 degrees off(maybe he turned it when it was out?)

set the block to tdc. now pull off ur cap.
the metal prong on ur rotor should be pointed to the number one spark plug prong on the cap...which is the bottom left corner if you look at it from the passenger side fender. if it's pointed to the number four plug....u put it on 180 degrees backwards..100% sure thats ur problem
