I have the mechanical ability of a one legged goat so i decided to change my own tranny luid and save some money. first i have rounded the head of the drain plug. what size is that? i used a 15mm. but it felt as soft as butter. next i took out all the pan bolts but can't get the pan down appears to be hung on shift linkage.

how can i now get the pan down?

how can i get drain plug out?

I am afraid you may have gotten in over your head. If the truck is a 99 or newer truck w/ the 5.3L you must drop the exhaust at the header. Once you drop that you can move the pan off to the side and off of the linkage. Good luck. As for the head size I can't remember because I tossed my pan after I changed it out for the current B&M pan. Grab some vise grips!

mine is the 4.8 v8. if that matters w/ dual exhuast. i was using a trusty Haynes manual haha it shows a picture of how to move a bracket but in the picture is a 2wd, mine has a front driveshaft.

Thanks or the help.
