Well i already started on my trunk, i layed a big piece of fiberglass (36x46) across the pan cause it needed to be strong. And im starting to put little pieces on the rest (18x18). Expensive stuff though. Its looking pretty good and its pretty solid.

I'v been working with fiberglass for a long time, mostly audio/video stuff and custom body kits. I can answer just about any question you have.

is there any way to do it without bondo?

yeah, but it takes more sanding, or a more complicated way of laying it. I'll show what I mean in a tutorial I'm writing up, building a sub box for my car.

thats mainly do to the fact that they are lain in molds, not a freestanding buildup-- theres a accual word for it, but its skiped my mind... Also you dont build it of bondo, you fill small imperfections in the surface with it, but I'm pretty sure you know that.

Well ive glassed a surf board :ylsuper: ....but thats hella lot different than glassing a sub enclosure :nutkick: ...i wonder if bondo would work on a board :boink: ...i use dingle berries to repair my boards usually...anybody who surfs and has had a mishappening with a rock and has had to repair the dent/ding/hole with plyurathane resin and hten had another mishap and used dingleberries knows what im talking about... :1:

I have read some other posts of yours and am very amazed at how much help you really can be, keep it up!!! By the way could you be a little more specific about brands and kinds of Resin and Hardener as well as maybe bondo. I want to try glassing but not sure what kind of resin, hardener, and bondo to use. There are a couple different kinds of resin for sure. What about the different types of fiberglass, what is the best for these purposes. Thanks alot

I know your askin' TSC, but please dont mind if I try to assist.
Resin, I suggest looking at West Systems 105 Epoxy and some West Systems 206 Hardner (Slow hardening) or West Systems 205 Hardner (Fastcure).
Body fillers
I like Eversoft and Bondo, and best of all micro balloons (type of filler).

I like the polyester sold at fiberglast (http://www.fiberglast.com). They have a limited shelf life and can be expensive. I have also used the polyester resin put out by BONDO that is available at most all parts stores like autozone, and it is quiet good, and inexpensive.
As for fillers I use Bondo Ultimate, its a polyester based filler that is strong, somewhat flexable and sands easy.

I am in the process of starting a custom composite fabrication shop , I have built many show winning cars that have had completly fiberglassed interiors, plus we specalize in fabrication of custom fiberglass enclosures, as well as custom body parts. all parts can be wraped in vinyl, carpet, or can be layed up in carbon fiber, or platnum carbon fiber (aluminized) or can be painted.. I would be interested in discussing what you want in more detail so that an accurate price can be established.. feel free to email me for more information..I have pictures of previous work that i have done that i can email to you at your decression..
