Overheating problems - HElp

I have a 1993 Civic EX.
My car has had some simple DIY fixes for my overheating problems. One was my hoses for instance. After that, it seemed to fix the problem. But wait, something else has gone wrong, so I took my thermistat out. Being in Florida, it shouldn't really matter, should it?

Anyways, now i'm overheating again, except it isn't everytime I turn my car on. After a few days, my water has almost completely been drained. Once I pour more water in, its fine for the next week or so. Whats wrong with it, can anyone help me?

There are no modifications on the car whatsoever. Fully stock.

how many miles? hows the water pump? where is the coolant leaking to?puddles? is the car running kinda shitty? smoke?

102k miles, don't know how the water pump is, no coolant leaking (that I know of), running fine, no smoke

if you lose water then your either leaking it from somewhere or you headgasket is blown and yoru burning the water.

but you gotta watch out because maybe yoru are leaking it but its near something hot so it just evaporates. gotta look real good.

do you smell coolant at all in the car itself, liek if your sitting in a seat

So do you have a thermostat installed or not, i wasnt clear.

I don't have a thermistat installed. Everything else is intact.

Alot of people think that if there is no thermostat installed, you will run cooler. Not True. It will completly throw off your collant ballance or something. Go to the car parts store ASAP, and dont forget to bleed your cooling system when filling your coolant!!!

start your car when it is cold, open the radiator filler cap, look inside and see if you can see fluid circulating. without that thermostat coolant should constantly circulate, now you may or may not be able to see it I have never tried on a honda. if it is not circulating it may be the waterpump.



another thing i'm thinking is when your hose broke and the car overheated the first time did it run out of coolant and overheat? if so maybe the waterpump overheated and burned up.


now on my integra there is a couple little holes on the waterpump called weep holes or something, when it is shot fluid will seep out of these holes and you can know whether it is shot or not.


another thing have you ever tried getting the radiator flushed? maybe it is clogged not allowing proper cooling.


maybe at the very least there is a small leak somewhere in a hose again, check the lower and upper radiator hoses, both heater hoses, even the radiator drain plug. if you can't find anything try idleing the car in your driveway for a little while with the hood up, let it warm up and build up pressure and check to see if you notice any fluid dripping anywhere.

radiator flushed.. I had put a hose to the opening of it and circulated water through it to see if there was any clogs.

Yo what part of Florida r u from cause im in Ft. Lauderdale. But neway with that water problem you might want see if pressure is building up on the hoses, thats how you would know if its the water pump.
