shifting screw up

ok, so i'm showing off to my friend the other night with the radio blaring (first time he's gone for a ride in my car), and i'm shifting at about 7,500 rpms. well, everything's gone fine so far until i come to a stop sign, and take off again. i get to about 7,500 in first gear, well, with the radio up so loud i wasn't paying attention very well apparently, and i guess i didn't get the shifter all the way into second, because after a few seconds it popped up into neutral and the rpms shot up to about 8,500-8,700.

now, whenever i go to start my car if it's been sitting for more than a few hours, it takes longer to start than usual. no weird noises or anything, just takes about 5 seconds of holding the ignition until it finally starts. would this have anything to do with my dork mistake i made the other night? the only other thing i can think of is we've been getting a LOT of rain lately, and maybe that has something to do with it.

Depends, a spark plug can cost anywhere from 3 to 60 dollars each.....

And i've seen lots of replies in the same minute so that's nothing:p

Personally, i'm not really sure what it'd be...

Man, I did the same thing! I had the radio on so loud, that I didn't notice I was hitting the red, but I was still in gear. I don't know what leaving it in neutral and revving up to 8500-8700 will do. You're not engaging the transmission, so that should be safe.

Whenever I replace the plugs I always use the Bosch platinums. The platinum 4's are $5.99 a piece, so $24 for the set. You don't have to gap these plugs either. If you want a cheaper set they also have platinum 2's($3.99/ea) and regular platinums($2.14/ea). The 2 and 4 refer to the number of prongs that they have. The 4's have a lifetime guarantee, the 2's have a 3yr guarantee, and the regulars have a 1yr guarantee.

As far as the car starting up slowly, mine does that also. In the area where I live the weather changes so much that I think my ECU needs to adjust to the humidity and temperature. This has only happenned to me a handful of times though and after I installed the short ram intake. Just keep track of when it seems to start up slowly and see if it's enviromentally related. If so, then nothing to worry about, otherwise, it might be a problem with some of the sensors.

You're still under warranty, so I would suggest taking it in to get checked out. Just let them know that it takes a while to start up now and it didn't do this until recently. They might be able to figure out if you have a problem or not.

Well, we're back to typical hot, dry, summer weather here in Oklahoma. All the rain has stopped, along with the slow start in my car. I guess it was just the humidity in the air.

Thanks for everyone's advice!

I'm gonna have to find a new avatar pic. mmont0 beat me to the punch on that one, lol. I was just about to change to something similar...:)

Hey its me again i thing for the valves its going to be the intake valves and probably crack the head. The result is not enough compression on the cylinders.

I don't think they make plutonium plugs. :iceslolan It would be nice for you to elaborate on the platinum plugs. I've never had any problem with them whatsoever, so I don't know why you wouldn't suggest them.

I just wish people would actually back their statements up with some useful information besides posting useless info.

I really take offense to that statement. I don't understand why everyone keeps slamming people. It's really troubling. JJJJKKKKK :iceslolan :iceslolan

I personally have a cold FUSION system in my car. 0-60 in 6.7 ms.

Another useless post! I don't know why I keep doing this!
