Slicks and rims

I am looking for cheap rims for the track and would like to know what size rims and slicks would fit best on a 2000 GT?

I am thinking a 15X10 rim wrapped with a 26-28" tall slick 10" wide. Would that fit? On the rim what specs should I be looking for on back spacing etc?

I am going to the track in 1 week and will be going head to head with a friend of mine who has a Porsche 911 and talks a lot of trash. I have enough time to add a couple mods + slicks. If I can be in the mid 13's I'll beat him. (that may sound slow but I'm in Phoenix and the nights at the track are running 105 degrees, shitty air)

Any help appreciated.

a 26/10.5/15 slick will mount up onto an 8" wide wheel without issue. You can pick up a set of prostars or draglites for cheap, and don't forget the skinnies for up front if you are going to use an ET street.

Boosted, just the guy I've been meaning to talk to. I'm going to be buying drag lites for my notch. 15x8 rears and 15x5 fronts. Do you happen to know the correct back spacing?

Sorry to hijack your thread brent.

I think only 1" bs is all that is available for the 15x5's, however I could be mistaken... People usually go with either 4.5" or 5.5" bs for 15x8's. 5.5" bs seems to be the most popular with 15x8's as it will tuck the wheel in nicely. 4.5" bs will cause the wheel to stick out more.

As soon as I have enough money, I plan on getting 15x5's with 1" bs for the front and 15x8's with 5.5" bs for the rear.

I don't know about the 15x5's, but I ran 15x8's out back with a 5.5 BS. Whopping 325/50/15 BFG drag radials fit with a bunch of hammer work to the inner fender, but the 275's fit on the wheel much better. The 275/60/15 BFG's fit on there much much better. The 325 BFG's are the equivalent to a 28x13 slick/ET street, and the 275's are like a 28x10.5.
