recall question

What I am seeing with my car is that when I first fill up the take with gas I get good gas mileage (19-21mpg in the city) and when I run down to 3/4 or even 1/2 a tank or less my mileage decreases. My question is when the dealership replaces my fuel rail with the stainless steel will gas mileage go up because fuel pressure is also going to go up? I believe that when I first fill up I get good gas mileage because the tank is fuel and therefore fuel pressure is at its peak. When the tank starts being relieved of its money hungry friend I start to get decreased mileage because (I think) the fuel pressure in the take is not as great. Because nylon expands when the temp gets hot (this I assume because they are recalling the car for cracking fuel lines and cracking is caused by some kind of expansion) would poor gas mileage be elleviated by the stainless steel fuel lines?

To make a long story short, I guess I am asking if my gas mileage has any chance in improving with the repairs the recall provides?

You need to follow-up at Oldsmobile Division, and write a letter and send it by registered mail. Make sure you find all the articles on the web that listed the recall copy and refence them.

GM has to recall 375,000 cars, some Buicks, a lot of Cads and 78,000 Aurora's.

Also notify your insuarnce that GM is not honoring its recall. They may write your a letter that unless they fix this problem you car is not covered. Since in most states insurance is required by law, they are breaking the law and hurting you, hurting your ability to earn a living and undue hardship. You can use this as a tool to have the work done.

Or as soon as you smell gas, have the car towed. I had this happen,there was so much gas on the manifold, if I started the car,I could of gotten blown away, like a red Rocket. You really should not wait until it leaks, it could be too late.:banghead:

You need to be a pain in the side of GM or get a local dealer to help you. Most dealers want the work and business.They may help you and call in for a po or authorization to repair and replace.
