need advice badly!!!

in the past i started a thread here but i didn't get any answers and i really need some advice. i have an 01' gt and when i get to 4500 rpm in first and second gear i have no further power i just slowly climb to 5000 and 6000 rpm. is this just that particular shifting point in that car which i highly doubt or is there a problem somewhere. someone i know said it's possible that there's something wrong with the timing belt. either way i need to get some answers cuz some guy killed me today in a lexus when i hit that 4500 point. btw in third and fourth gear the power loss is at 4000 rpm. :confused:

You probably do need the timing belt changed. Have you ever changed it or have record of it changed? It is supposed to be changed every 60K miles. Check that out before you snap the belt and bend your valves.

I'm currently at 44k miles and haven't changed the timing belt yet. I've read in other forums that a bad timing belt can lead to power loss in the engine. So tomorrow I'll probably take it to the shop and get it looked at (fixed if needed). Also my friend in Florida said something about a rev limiter kicking in. Is this possible or does it even exist?

Theres definitely not a limiter at that RPM... Check the belts and if thats not it im just as stumped as you are...

Timing belt changes are pricey..if u lived in Socal we coulda helped u do it...good luck bro..let us know how much it costs..and I'm pretty sure thats what the prob is cuz the same thing happened to a buddy of mine in his 3g..

my car seems to die out also at higher rpms also. it only has 20k on it though.
