Doesn't the GOP have anything positive to say about their own candidate? Why is so much of their campaimgn focused on negative attacks on their primary contender?
Simple anser. The present administration has nothing to be proud of,and plenty to try and divert attention from.

Check this out and tell me what you think?
He's a typical politician.
He supported what was at the time a popular notion. Popular because the Administration made it that way, with Bush's empassioned speeches, and his administration's (pushed by Vice President Cheney) careful strategy to gain support.
When Kerry realized what a flop (pun intended) what he supported was, this is where he decided to flip. He learned from Bush's mistakes, where apparently, Bush is incapable of this.
I'm a flip-flopper also. I too, was for the invasion of Iraq wholeheartedly. Seeing how incompetent this administration has handled things has made me flip - perfectly poignant, considering I voted for Bush last time. Can't speak for Kerry, but that's just one of my reasons.

I saw those on another board recently. It a good indication of Kerry's "I take everyones position" platform.
We also said that the Bush bashers and liberals would immediately point out that it was negative, that it didn't talk about Bush and that everyone changes their minds. We were definately prognosticators
The last thing the Kerry camp wants is the voters hearing senators own words. http://www.kerryquotes.com/video/iraqwmd.htm (http://www.kerryquotes.com/video/iraqwmd.htm)

whats funny is how ppl say bush lied, but forget about kerry, i say its his fault to, I have no respect for a man that cannot take responsibility for something that he is as responsible to as it as bush is.

Um...Bush is the president, and the Commander in Chief. The buck stops there. To suggest that Kerry is as culpable as Bush for the theft of Iraqi sovereign rights and long term damage to the Middle East is utter drivel.

It's pretty sad, but to be expected. The Republican camp knows if the major election issues are things like the war in Iraq, border security and other domestic issues, there is a very good chance they will lose the election.
By making the election issues about the perceived personal character of the candidates, the swing voters will have to decide based on who they perceive as a better candidate personally, and not thinking about the issues, like how in the last year, Bush has wasted over 120 billion dollar in Iraq, while American veterans get the shaft, American seniors have to pay outrageous prescription drug costs, American students are having to pay skyrocketing tuition fees and the national debt is becoming completely unmanageable.
Also, in that particular video, the only point where I see Kerry saying anything about being against the war was in an interview, where he was asked "Are you an anti-war candidate?" He replies "Well, yes-" and starts to say something, but those grand ol' editors cut it off right there. I actually saw that interview on TV, he said "Well yes, I'm against how we went to war. Would I support removing Saddam Hussein from power if he were in power today? Yes I would". That's to the best of my recollection.
I am not a democrat, I do not support Kerry, but I have to say so far, the Republican tactics in this election are sad. The very fact that the most hardcore republicans who frequent this forum are all displaying anti-Kerry ads in their signatures, and not pro-Bush just drives home the point that there is nothing good to say about Bush, so the only course of action is to say something worse about Kerry.
I see one problem with this. Allegedly, Kerry changes his mind on issues over long periods of time. A good politician pays attention to popular opinion, because he is there to represent the people. If public opinion changes, then you change as well, or you are no longer representing the people. Republicans make all sort of nasty implications that Kerry has married and divorced and remarried for money, allegations of infidelity, etc.
What can be proven is that Bush has done an abysmal job of managing the country domestically, and to support his foreign policy agreement, he rammed phoney documents, baseless claims and false intelligence down our throats, to scare the American people, ya know, those veterans, seniors, students etc, into supporting his war. Now which is worse, someone who's opinion sways with popular opinion, which he is there to represent, or someone who misinforms the American public in order to invade a country because of his own private agenda, resulting in the death of thousands and the waste of well over one hundred billion taxpayer dollars?

Lets see, the war in Iraq is a big issue, domestic issues are always at the top of the list, so I don't know what you're smoking, but I'm pretty sure its legal in Canada.
Though I'm not surprised around here either. For the last few years, if anything bad is said about anyone other then Bush, people rush in to bring his name up.
Bush has done a great job running this country. The recession has abated. Taxes are lower and employment is the highest it’s ever been. Terrorists are on the run; North Korea has been confronted and the UN has been shown to be a joke of an organization. Bush has not done enough (or much of anything) to curb spending or get a handle on illegal immigration. Those he needs to address in his second term. Kerry hasn’t accomplished anything – he’s missed over 80% of the votes in the Senate. He has not principles to identify with. Its one thing to disagree with the stance someone takes, its another not knowing what those stances are.
There are as many people putting funny little clips, quips and quotes about Bush in their signatures and it has nothing to do with supporting whichever candidate they want in office. Associating that with nothing positive to say about their candidate is poorly contrived. :disappoin

Only through massive gov't deficits.
Taxes are lower and employment is the highest it’s ever been. Terrorists are on the run; North Korea has been confronted and the UN has been shown to be a joke of an organization.
On the run, by Bush's own logic, to go kill our troops in Iraq, the federal budget deficit and trade deficit are the highest they've ever been, North Korea's said an essential "screw you" and, like Iran, is almost surely feverishly building nukes, since now the world has seen what'll happen to you if you DON'T have them...
And looks like Bush suddenly changed his mind on the UN, since he keeps asking them for help with the Iraq mess... http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/0904-06.htm

Bush has done plenty about the illegals.

How about an AMNESTY for the 8 MILLION ILLEGAL MEXICANS?! You know, the ones that are taking jobs and straining the welfare system -- keeping Americans unemployed and making Americans pay for their free stay in the States.
And, uh, he's the one who wanted to spend 120 billion on Iraq, 500 billion on prescription drugs -- helpfully getting spending under control by cutting the troop's combat pay and veteran's benefits.
Kerry, on the other hand, is a Senator. His job, last time I checked, was to represent the will of the people in the Congress. As public opinion changes, you're gonna expect his votes to change -- he represents their opinion, right?

Interestingly....Kerry made those comments based on the exact same intelligence that was presented to President Bush. Somehow it is okay for Kerry to act on that intelligence, but Bush is called a liar and a deceptive president. Lack of logic on the part of the liberals is rampant.

You know...I wake up in the morning...I yawn...I stretch....I do all the necessary stuff to get ready for work....then I get my shoes on to leave. Danged if I can't where my wife's shoes. They are so much more attractive. (love the stiletto heels ;) ) I also can't wear my son's shoes. They are so much more youthful looking. I am doomed to wearing the shoes that fit.
My advice to Kerry....If the shoe fits...WEAR it!!! And quit freaking whining!!!

Advice that you would do well to heed yourself.Only a gutless coward goes off to another board and whines about Nazi moderators. If there were such a thing at AF,you would have been removed unceremoniously a long time ago.
Incidently,is it it true that you have started a thread on another board enquiring about the pleasures of anal sex? Strange, you've always presented yourself as a devout heterosexual here.If anything,a little too devout, perhaps.

having stood up for gladhatter's right to free speech[however wrong-headed] in the past, it pains me that he then goes off to another board and starts a thread specifically to whine about myself and Jimster. Interesting to see that his comments there were edited by the moderators. I don't see that happening here. Such a pity that he insists on lying about it.

Your memory seems a bit flawed....but that is fine.
In the other forum I was jokingly referring to just what your memory seems flawed on. I NEVER posted anything there that I have not, at one time or another said here. I have been called numerous names here, only one of which is coward. I have done nothing cowardly. I don't understand what the big deal is with you, Taranaki, what I do outside this forum has nothing to do with you anyway.
