what's going on?

almost everytime i try to go to this site i get "server is too busy try again later"
i think a few other people have mentioned this, and now it's happening more frequent. it doesn't matter if it's day or night. Is AF actually getting this "crowded" for lack of better words? or is there a problem? I wouldn't really complain too much considering it's a free site, but there's been numerous times already after typing a response to help somebody, and when i click submit it gives me "server is too busy" then i lose what i typed.
i've never had this problem untill a few weeks ago and now it's happening more and more. maybe AF should expand there server or something? :) this is even the second attemp at posting this thread

Hahahah " it went through"
I know people will just bitch about how we dont pay and stuff. Ive used thirdgen.org for like 5 years now and havent given them a penny and that place has been nothing but good to me. Mind you im sure they arent as big but why would I pay for this site when that one deals directly with my car??

I know that when I get teh "server busy" thing I wait a few minutes then reload and it gives me the option to resubmit what I just wrote so I don't have to do it again.

EDIT: WOW, it went through, lol.
I don't feel bad about bitchy and I almost donated last year when this stuff started happening. But then I thought about this... part of what makes AF so popular and so large is all the knowledge people on here who answers millions of questions even the stupid ones. All that knowledge is given for free... now look at all the ads, banners etc., on this site.
They are paying to have ad space on AF, cause of the good mods and knowledgeable people and where that money goes I don't know and I don't care to be honest. But I give free information and my years of expirence and in return I get to learn info from other AF members and get a place to post and do things. Anything beyond that I do not feel indebited and neither should anyone else.

I don't care much, as long as they fix it exclusively for the Camaro/Firebird forum. I don't hardly ever go into any others...unless I'm bored and/or nothing new is posted here.

Yeah the first few factual/educational posts, by page two it's a big flame war...and handa/ford sucks...Etc. Not entertaining at that point.
EDIT: ALSO, a BIG thing that I like to do (might be weird) because I find it entertaining, is to going into the locked threads and see the topic (questions and answers), then reactions of "Thread Haters", then the most entertaining part of it all!!! The mods closing statements!! LOL, Classic!! Love it! (Keep it up Mods) :smokin:

All over your dogs pretty face! :naughty: :naughty:
Actualy guys if you can keep it on topic threads it would be great.
You might have noticed the server issues, its an unforunate side effect of being what is literaly the worlds biggest automotive forum.
We also rank in the top 100 biggest forums ever, normaly around the number 50 spot, based on member numbers, posts numbers and posts per day. That also makes us one of the biggest internet sites in the world.
Our server demands and bandwidth requirements are huge! Bigger than a lot of comercial sites.
Igor is of course getting us a faster server etc, but such things take time.
In the mean time, if we all cut back on the useless posts we can all enjoy the forums more. :smokin:

Sorry, just saw this.
If you want to talk find a chat client, like MIRC etc.
If you want just an off topic thread then use the OT forum.
The one you started was closed becuase it was being used for chat.
Any thread has to have a topic, and traceable path of discussion.
Random chat just wastes server resources and takes up space.
I know what its like to just want to chat to your mates, Iv been doing this longer than many of you have owned cars, and I do symbathise.
But we simply can't allow chat threads here.
If you can't use MIRC, or don't like it then try AIM or ICQ. Both run very well behind firewalls and can be configured to run on PC or MAC, and both have chat features.
Or try good old MSN. Iv never used it, but being that it comes intergrated into windowz XP most people should have easy access to it.
You can also try programs like Trillion, which integrates AIM, ICQ and MSN, as well as MIRC etc into one interface.
Its sort of a chat manager :)
