Dash Controls Go Out

Once every couple of weeks, for no reason, my dash goes completely dead in my 98 Caravan LE. The speedometer, gas gauge and other gauges will register nothing, all needles on 0 or wherever they sit when the car is off. Also, the electronic door locks, that activate at 15 MPH will not automatically lock. Then, mysteriously, they will pop back on. I have had it in to the dealer and they have put it on the computer controls check and nothing came back. Any ideas? Loose wire? Where is the wiring harness?

Checked all the wires in the wiring harness and all fuses. No help. Does anyone think this could be the BCM?

It's not the BCM. I had mine replaced last week and within 1/4 of mile the dash failed again. Still no solution.

Have your mechanics check the grounds both on the bolt to the body of the car and behind the dash. I've asked my service department repeatedly if they've done this to which they reply, "we think so...." I have lost all confidence in these people. If I understood the vehicle I would do it myself.

Right now they have taken my van, given me a PT cruiser to drive and their plan is to test it and try to get it to fail again. Dropped the car of on Monday. Called for update on Wednesday and they had not even moved my car from where I parked it. I'm beyond frustrated.

Also, when the dash fails I've noticed the auto locks not working and the car has trouble shifting. This is a serious problem, which is affecting the working of the entire engine.
