groove in rotor

I recently replaced my front rotors because the old ones very very uneven and had grooves in them. The new rotors are slotted brembos and I noticed the day after installing them that there was a groove already starting to form on the driver side. After looking farther into it, I found that it gets worse when I am hard on the brakes and I beleive the brackets holding the pads are what is causing it. Does anyone have experience with this or know how to fix it? Thanks.

how's about a wheel alignment? and if it's a shop you go to a lot ask them to inspect the brakes for uneven wear.

The newer brakes out these days have metal shavings in them since asphestos(sp?) was discontinued. The metal shavings cause brakes to squeal more, and have multiple little grooves on your rotors. My .02 cents...

I just replaced the struts not more than a month ago and had the wheels aligned right after. I also bought slotted rotors in hopes that little grooves would not be left in the rotors since that is what happened to my last set.

Were the driver side pads more worn than the passenger side? Sounds to me like you may have a caliper that's sticking.

I forgot to mention this and it is really weird: the driver side pads, especially the one on the side with the groove, don't seem to be wearing. the inner edge is flat and smooth, like it should be but the outer edge is rough like it isn't wearing.

take it in to a good..i mean really good alignment shop and have them really look at your brakes, wheels and suspension. somethings definetly not aligned or installed correctly. maybe the hub or something....there are alot of possibilities...now brake rotors dont stay completley smooth, but there is a certain degree of wear that you should worry about. if you can see a distinct line (or lines) forming on the surface of your rotor, id say check the pads and calipers. something might be poking through.

Like I said before, I think it is the brackets that hold the pads that are doing it. I just want to know what to do to fix it.
