I'm wondering if someone would be kind enough to help me understand the following problems...perhaps someone can find a connection between them. I'm not car saavy, so any descriptive information would be helpful.

I purchased a 1994 Bonneville SE with 116K miles on it. Seems extremely well maintained. The front ball joints/bearings? and computer was just replaced by the previous owner...here is what I'm noticing:

1. Security light always on

2. Engine seems hot under the hood (hotter than I'm used to anyway), but the temperature sensor never goes past 1/3 of the way up, so it may just be a hotter engine.

3. The car stalls occassionally while at a stop sign or while slowing down (like taking a turn into the driveway.)

4. The car seems the rev very high initially when I start it up. It calms down once I release the key, but it just starts up and revs like mad for the half second that I have the key turned.

5. When I am breaking, the breaks feel a little "lumpy", as if it wasn't perfectly round, so that I can feel the shudder in the steering. As I slow down, the interval between the 'lumps" slows down of course.

The stalling is the most fustrating of course. I am specifically wondering if the break thing could be related to the new ball joints/bearings? and if the security light or stalling could be due to the new computer. But, if you can tell me anything about these problems, that would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Seems like it will be a great car, I just don't want to be pouring hundreds of dollars in changing crap that is fine.

I had a 1990 SSE with a similar problem - stalled at stop lights plus the cruise control would phase out. After 5 trips & 400$ to DICK (a fitting name) MORRIS Chevy in Farmington, MI. Turned out that it was the ECM. Should have taken it to BOB SELLERs Pontiac the first time. The Serv Mgr there (Pat ?) knows everything about Bonnie's. If you're in the Detroit area, I've found they have one of the best tech teams around.

Good Luck - BB
