I just picked up an '04 Silverado Ext. cab LS in Dark Gray with 4.8L. I removed the badging last night - what a difference it makes. It looks so much better. Let the upgrades begin! K&N, Lorider Fiberglass Tonneau, bedliner, exhaust.......and I bought this truck because it was cheap!!

stratguy,
I'm nearly done modding my 99, and if there is one thing I've learned, it is to use ebay to buy the parts. I'm sure there is a small chance of getting burned, but I've used iebay to buy my billet grill, billet chevy emblem, clear marker light, escalade door handles chrome, Silv SS wheels and tires etc....and I saved alot of money.
Good luck in your modding! I thinks these trucks are great because you can actually change the appearance alot for a relatively small amount of money.

I recently purchased an '04 Silverado myself and removed all the badging as well. Removed the bodyside moldings too!!! What a difference it makes!! Looks like a totally different truck. I like the clean look!!! On to modify myself, dual cat back exhaust, rollpan, window tint, wiper cowl, and most important bigger tires. It came with 245's (yuck!) I just can't decide which size tire to go with now!

Just like Red00lght said, eBay is an excellent place to get parts and accessories. You can save sooo much money on eBay. Especially on security systems and certain parts that you would be paying double for anywhere else. Just be sure to read the description carefully and ask the seller question so that there's no confusion as to what the product is and then you won't be disappointed.

It tends to get scuffed and scratched a little more than usual. But in parking lots just park away from everyone else and take care of your paint. Fix the chips often and it should be okay. I think taking them off and making it look cleaner is worth the extra wear that it may receive.

If you park like I do, you won't have that problem. I always take up 2 parking spots where ever I go. I maybe jinxing myself, but I did not have one scratch or dent in my '98. I'm very meticulous with my vehicles. Hopefully I'll have the same luck with my '04

what holds on those side moldings?

2 sided tape approx. 1/2" wide that runs the length of the molding top and bottom. I was surprised at how easily they came off. I didn't use heat, I just got my fingers under one end and started pulling them off.

How do you think a '98 would look without the molding? The piant is two tone, pewter on top and royal blue on the bottom.

I had the misfortune of having a tourist cop a U-turn in front of me within a blind curve 10 days after buying the truck. Well after the body guy was done I had him remove the moldings as they were leaking glue down the side and bubbling. I also love the clean look. I bought the grill and the body guy threw in the billet bowtie for free. he said I can't let this go out of here with that nice grill and that yellow plastic thing on the front it just wouldnt be right!
I cant seem to figure out how to post the picture but it is in my gallery.
