ok, the copy of the key for my brothers car is tuck in the ignition, he gets back tomorrow.... how do i get the key out? the battery is dead but i can take care of that... i just need to know how to get the key out..... its a 1999 grand prix

if the key isn't in the off position then you'll need to charge the battery to get it out other than that you might read some posts to see how people solved this problem.

this will get the keys out:

btw, this is a common problem

Look under the steering column. There's a 1/4" wide plastic circle. Pop it out. Stick a pen up in the hole and it will hit the solenoid to release the key. That's the emergency way out when you have no power.
