Got a friend who asked me to upgrade his 1997 GSX. Hes paying me to do some work on it and I want to upgrade the stock turbo kit. Where can I find an upgrade kit for the stock turbo?

Is the car stock? 5Speed or Auto?...I recomend working on the suspension first before trying to put in a new turbo, but thats just me tho. Good luck

i have worked on the car a lot, suspension, exterior, interior, other performance mods. I wasnt originaly gonna upgrade the trubo, but my friend surprised me with a little more cash. So now i can do even more to his car. Its 5 speed.

:1: Make sure you have enough upgrades so you don't choke the turbo

dont worry about the mods, i know this car can handle it. Ive had other people look at it and say its good to go. Those people have referred me to places where I can get upgrade kits, but I would like you opinions. So plz give me some places where i can get an upgrade kit.

It's tough to give you opinions on what you should get for your car when you won't tell us what you already have! You said you've been working on the exterior, suspension and performance, so if you told us exactly what you have for performance mods than maybe we can give you exactly what you'll need!

I hate shit like this. Slap a Forced Perfomance Red on it, crank the boost up to 25 psi and haul ass...
...for 30 feet because you couldn't take 5 seconds to answer a fucking question so we can help you figure out a compatible turbo. :disappoin

Ya know, I'm kind of sorry, but at the same time if this guy "knows" his buddy's car so well, why can't he figure out a turbo selection?
I'll warn the guys at FP to expect an asinine call. Let's see what happens when he pulls this "I'm not telling my mods" shit with them and asks for a turbo recommendation. :nono:

i will tell the manufactures for reccomendations, I just want to know some good reliable manufactures whom I can buy a kit from. Im not asking for anything specific. For example a friend told me that greddy selld upgrade kits. If i like ill talk to them about it, just want some manufactures. If you cant get that into your heads, than go back to elementry school.

Nobody buys 'upgrade kits'. Once you know your shit, which you should figure out, you wont have questions like these. I'm not real sure why your friend asked you to upgrade his car... you haven't checked out how we upgrade our cars. Good info on how to do that is in the sticky thread, mostly the site list.
There are upgrade guides on DSMtuners, RRE, Jumptronix, and more... go through them and ask more specific questions.
Lastly, you say the car is ready for a bigger turbo, but you don't seem to know some basic stuff... how can I recommend a turbo if you won't tell me what your goal is, or how much the car can support.
FYI, There are only a couple turbo manufacturers... Mitsubishi and Garrett. The different vendors you buy the turbos from don't matter. If you're asking for which vendors are the best... check out the site list! SBR, FP, RRE, AGP, PTE...

You dont need a "kit" on a car that is already turbo, just for starters. It will make you sound like you have more of an idea of what is going on. It's friendly advice, dont take us the wrong way :)
Not answering questions about supporting mods makes it absolutely impossible for us to recomend a turbo, brand, builder, manifacturer, reseller, etc.
IF you dont want to answer that simple question, you have to at LEAST tell us the goals for the car in terms of wheel HP or track times. No one can give you a serious recomendation in good concience without that info. And if anyone does, I know that they do NOT understand the modding process. I'm glad to see everyone here refusing to make a recomendation. My work is done here :D :D
If you dont want to help us help you, see the usual turbo vendors, sometimes they give some info about what mods you need, but at least they will guve an estimated power range, so you can start to guage how big or small you need to go. Try these for starters.

Well, no point in getting defensive guys. We are all trying to do the right thing, and he is being a tool. Wether or not he gets this information, or gets wrong information, or blows up his buddy's car, my car wont be affected :D Some poeple just can't be helped. Just relax, and let it happen. ;)
