1996 Ford Escort Wagon - Jumpy

Our car is idling really rough and when stopped at lights, it jumps almost ready to stall. It has not stalled yet though. But it is really jumpy.

Also, there is a smell of gas that comes into the car even with windows up. Must be coming through the vents.

Car has been in the shop already -- tune up, ignition wires changed, filter changed, fuel injectors cleaned, etc. but still jumping....

Any help or advice would be appreciated.
