Sounding Machine

Hi, guys. My car, Eclipse 2000, has problem when the engine starting. I am not sure where the sound comes from. Is it because of the timing belt? The mileage is around 39,000. Anyone ever experienced or knows the problem? And how much will the timing belt cost if so? And, guys, does any of you have problem with the car door? One of the doors doesn't close smoothly. Is it because of the MITSUBISHI steel plate under the door? Because it is bent. Any help is greatly appreciated.

its hard to tell what is causing the noise b/c we dont know what it sounds like and you didnt give too much of a description. but with the door, it is normal. the window interfers with the door closing all the way. if you have to fix it, the you have to take the door panel off and tighten a little black piece inside the door. or you can be like me and crack the window a little bit and the door will close fine.

It's Eclipse GT 2000. Whenever I try starting the engine that has not been heated up (usually morning), there is some sound. I tried to figure out the source and I think it's the timing belt. Can the timing belt creates such sound when not heated up will create sound? The mileage is 39,000 and the card says that it might need to get replaced. Is that the problem?

For the door problem, it only happens on the right door. The door needs to be closed with more strength if want to be closed completely. I don't know what stuck the door there. Any ideas?

yeah....the window is not aligned correctly and it stops the door from closing unless you slam the door. just roll the window down about an inch and the close the door. it should close a little easier. as far as the noise, it could be the timing belt.

Thanks, eclised4utoo. Could it be the driving belt that causes the noise? I heard that the timing belt is needed to be replaced when the mileage is around 60000 and mine is only around 40000. Or could it be the power steering belt?

What kind of noise is it is a whine or is it a click?
Also, it only takes about 10 mins to fix the door problem. Its super easy to deal with.

I suppose it is a click sound..seems like the sound produced from rotating stuff. Can you teach me how to fix the door? When I check the door, I think it's not the problem with the window. I think there is something broken inside the door because when I move the door there is something moving inside..something dropped from its place I think..is that the problem? Now the most important thing is to get rid of the sound.

Man I dont know what that sound is in the engine, but the sound in the door is the window stop it falls off causing the door to rattle and not shut.

If I remember correctly the door is held on by two bolts under the caps for the handles. Then the panel just pops off. once its off there will be either a little white or black stop and most likely sitting in the bottom of the door. Find the spot that it goes to and then you will have to reattach the window switch and see if it lines up properly. Its not that bad and easy to fit I I think that I only used a phillips screwdriver and a 10mm socket to fix it.
