Wireing for hitch

Is there an easy place to hook up the wires for lights and signals? I looked in the compartment where the jack is but couldn't decide if that would work.

Thanks

I'm not sure what years yours is, but...
For both my '98 and my '01, I bought pre-made plug in harnesses. For both of them, I had to remove one tailight assembly (as though you were changing a bulb) and then slice the grommet where the wiring came out from the body. The trailer harness was fished into the tailight area from inside the van (where the jack goes), and through the grommet. The trailer connector is a "t" type of arrangement. The factory connector was unplugged from the stop/turn/tail light, the trailer harness plugged in in its place, and the factory harness plugged into the remaining pigtail.

Caravanbob,

Where did you get the T-connector for the trailer harness? Was it just an aftermarket or was it from Dodge?
Also, do you have a Class II or III hitch? I'm trying to find one that is a lower profile, so it doesn't stand out like a sore thumb. Although, I'll never use it for towing over 500 lbs, I'd like to go with Class III. This way I can use my cargo carrier and different hitch configurations that goes on my truck as well.

I know I'm full of questions, but I hope you can help.
Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,
For the '98 I had, I got the harness a Pep Boys. For my '01, I ordered it with my hitch, but I believe that Pep Boys has them (or can order them for you).
I use a class 2 (1 1/4") hitch. The only thing you can see of it is the square receiver.

Hello everybody I just got a 02 Dodge cavaran and installed a class 2 Reese hitch. It fit beautiful the bolts are there and you don't even see it when ball insert is removed.
One problem There is two wires on each side hidden in a spot you will see a rubber plug pull it out and upon checking for power i got nothing. I didn't want to pay the high price for the harness ,I to looked at wiring in jack compartment. But there is no slack.
I am going to inquire today. ------ Later Bill------ :2cents: compared to $80.00 for harnesss :banghead:

Have you looked around on-line for prices for the wiring harness? $80 is way out of range.
Here's one for $51: http://hitches4less.com/20dodcargran.html
Better yet, heres one for under $30:
