1988 528E Stereo

My original car stereo will power on and the antenna will come up, everything looks normal, but i hear absolutly nothing from the speakers, no click, no initial pop. I check all the fuses i could think of. They are all good to go. Any sugestions

you ever figure this out, i have an 87 528E with the same symptom?
