Someone please help! I am clueless when it comes to my car, but this one really has me confused. My car started fine this morning when I went to an appointment. About an hour later I came out and the car wouldn't start. It wouldn't turn over or anything. So I had a friend jump it for me, thinking it was just the battery, even though I had replaced it not too long ago. I started to drive away and not five feet later, it died on me. So I had it towed back to my house. He tried to jump it again just so I could roll my windows down. When he attached the cables, the car tried to start without the key in the ignition. Then when I took the key out, the car didn't turn off - not until I hit the brake. He has no clue why my car is doing that. He thinks that it could be my remote start acting up. I don't know if the remote start is aftermarket or if it came with the car, since I bought it used three years ago. But I have never had this problem. Any ideas what it could be and if it won't cost me an arm and a leg to fix it?

I would definately have your remote start system uninstalled from the car. Since it's starting without the key and won't shut off without the brake being applied, I'm sure that's it. Your remote start is in fact aftermarket. GM just started putting factory remote stars on their car in 2004. I hope this helps.

Thanks! I'm definately taking that out. Don't use it anyway. I appreciate the reply.

No problem. Just make sure everything gets put back together correctly once that thing is removed.
