This is kinda a strange comparison, givin the Audi is a 4 door and costs about $10,000 more.

From one standpoint, if you have $45,000 to spend on an S4, you should go with that. Its a very fun car, room for friends/family, and is much more comfortable then the 350z.

On the other hand, the 350z is a hell of a lot cheaper. For about $35,000 you can get a fully loaded z, compared to the $50,000+ base price of the S4. If your into modifying cars, or saving money, that $10,000 goes a long way. You can do ALOT with $10,000.

So if you have the money, and/or want to keep the car stock for a while I would go with the Audi S4 Quattro. Its a great road car thats about as much fun as you can have with a 4 seater (except the M5 and RS6). If money is more of an issue, or you want to tune the hell out of your car to create a track monster, I would go with the 350z.

Stats: S4 350z
HP 340 287
Torque 302 274
Weight 3,825lbs 3,225lbs
0-60 5.6-5.8 5.7
1/4 mile 14.1 14.3

Im also gunna guess that the Audi outhandles the Z due to AWD, so if you dont include price, the S4 about the same as the Z as far as performance goes.

S4 all the way. the Z is a great car but for all intents and purposes, the S4 just does it all. luxury, speed, awd, safety, looks, trunkspace, V8, seats 4. you can't lose. i'd certainly buy a Z as a nice weekend car if i could afford that many car payments. haha.

but like Dinan said, not the greatest comparison as you obviously can't call the S4 advantages over the Z that i've just mentioned very fair since they're different kinds of cars. performance-wise, they're very comparable. but i think the Z would be the funner car to drive even though it's just slightly slower. audi is notorious for isolated driving experiences. little road feel and the overall quietness of the cabin just removes that whole element a bit more. if i'm at a road course race and given the chocie of the 350z or the S4, i'd probably choose the 350z, but for the street, i'm gonna go with the S4

The S4 is faster than the Z and at the same time MUCH more practical, I think you can forsee my answer here...

S4 over 350Z hands down, no contest... Don't get me wrong the z is an amazing car. But the S4 is just as much fun but more practical, and better equipped. I don't think that when Audi was making the S4 they had the Z in mind....I would go more on S4 vs M3, but I am sure they done that comparo to death

yes now those cars are evenly matched, id still take the s4, but thats all personal preference, im sure dinan would take the m3

/\ affirmative

But lets not get into that comparo, the M3 and S4 are so close its not even funny.

the power:weight ratio on the cars is almost the exact same, but is actually slightly in favor of the Z stock. it's 11.25 lbs per hp for the S4 and 11.21 for the Z. the audi is very heavy and costs substantially more. a new S4 is $46-$48K, a new performance model Z is $31-$33K i'd go with the Z and modify the shit out of it with the $15K i'd save, and eat the S4 all day long.

ummm extremely heavy? anyway, how many 4 doors do u know that are that fast out of the box? for that price? few grand in mods for the s4 and your whoopin all over the 350's 15. and it would still take it in the twisties

WRX, Lancer EVO, Neon SRT-4...there's a quick 3...

I'd take the Z...if you're looking for a sports car, get a sports car. I can see how it is cool to have a little fun in the family car though, but if I wanted a 4 seater to go romp around in, it would be the G35...looks waaaaaaaaay better than the S4 in my oppinion. If I wanted a 4 door, I'd go SRT-4. You simply CAN NOT beat that performance for the money in new cars...you just can't... I'd take the M3 over the S4, too. Looks so MEAN...plus that inline 6...:worshippy...el drool.

But...after all is said and done...It's hard to justify paying 20-30G for a car...it's just not really worth it. The SRT-4 would be a consideration (even though it's a dodge...and a neon...and a 4 door...and a neon...and a neon...), but even THAT doesn't make sense when I can get the same performance out of my Z31T that I paid a itty bitty teeny weeny little fraction of that price for it. Unless you're addicted to that new car smell, why pay more?

well only the evo is close to the s4, the wrx and srt-4 are a lil ways back. mid 13's for the evo and s4 and low 14's for wrx and srt-4 according to car-stats.com only. the stats could be off a lil, and that is understandable. and like you said, looks are only ones opinion.

i'd go 350z here. i love the sportiness. i dont think i've ever seen an audi that i have wanted unless you count lamborghini which is my favorite company. i would rather spend the time modding the 350z anywayz

How about to 2005 STi? I guarantee you that this car will run with an S4 at the drag strip (in fact, C&D got a .4 second lower quarter mile for the STi) and at the track. And it costs around $20,000 less. It's much less comfortable, but if you just want a performance sedan and not much more, it's the car.

While S4 v STi might be a better comparo (AWD, Turbo, Sedans), that isnt this comparison. Please try to keep other cars out of this...

well, we already have a huge concensus that the s4 wins, and as long as its not getting out of hand, which it isnt at all, just discussion. i see no problem in it
