I am wanting to buy a car, but i dont know what to buy. I was thinking about it, and ive always had a thing for eclipses. I want a GSX ot GS-T, but cant find any good condition ones. So i started looking in new eclipses, an found the GTS is a decent eclipse. What kind of mods are avaible for the GTS? and can i change the door panels and outer body kits, because i dont really like the look of all those "aerodynamic" lines, but thats just me. its either a GSX, GS-T, GTS.

i would continue to look for a gsx or gs-t. their aftermarket support is far better than the 3g eclipse. there are a number of body kits available for the 3g, but i dont like any of them. thats just my opinion though. there are a few performance mods for the GTS. headers, intake, forced induction, suspension. my opinion, wait til you find a GSX or GS-T. i wish i could have found one when i was looking.

If you are going to get a 3G, I recommend a GS if you are going to mod it. The car weighs in at 2916lbs and has an excellent motor for boost. There are 5 turbo kits available for the RS/GS, but 1 requires modification to fit properly, whereas there is only 1 now for the V6.
As far as the door, you can go to a Dodge dealer and buy 2 doors off a stratus, as they are the same door fittings.
Suspension wise, there are at least 6 true coilover system, along with various other lowering springs and shocks/struts. There are also 3 manufacturers of rear sway bars, 1 rear strut tower bar, and the best front strut tower bar is the stock GT bar.
Maybe I should make up a FAQ for all the mods on a 3G that is available. Oh, wait, there already is a partial one.

I love the 2G's, but I have yet to find one with a nice looking body kit on it. However, I think the 3G has a few good ones, I personally like the Shine Street and Wings West. Neither one is to flashy. I say it all depends on what you want to do with the car, for example show or go?

i want go, but i dont want it to look like shit...i am still lookin for a GSX...but then agiain i dont want a turbo.. im 17, and id hate the damn insurance...i hate that i know lots about cars, and will have to settle for something less, because my job cant support payments (if i got a new one, or one more then about 4k...) and insurance...its a difficult choice

well then if you don't want a turbo, then you should probably look toward a 3g. u could go for the GS, but then again, you dont want a turbo. u could go for a GT. i think dont think the GTS would be the way to go. its not that much different from the GT but it cost like $4000 more.

The V6 GTS 3Gs are very fast, but honestly speaking, nothing does it for me like a boosted AWD... plus eclipsed4toou is right, there are tons and tons of aftermarket stuff for 2G cars.
If you have the dough, do this:
Get a 2G NA Spyder 2.4 ltr 4G64. Do a DOHC conversion and boost it. The Spyder's frame is similiar to the GSX's, so you can AWD it (has been done). So, youll have a 2G drop-top thats a boosted AWD with 400cc more displacement than the 4G63 and more torque. ummm...okay, what was ure original post? lol.

Get a 2G NA Spyder 2.4 ltr 4G64. Do a DOHC conversion and boost it. The Spyder's frame is similiar to the GSX's, so you can AWD it (has been done). Hay dude, listen, insurance rates take a hit more with YEAR than with HP ratings. My insurance for my 98 GS Spyder was $110 / month. I traded it in for a 97 GS-T Spyder. Insurance dropped to $91....trust me dude, dont even worry about the turbo thing affecting your insurance.. I can guarantee your insurance for any 3G will be higher than any 2G.

go with 3g...more mods are comin out as we speak...the 3g is gonna be a car to contend with in bout a year u'll see...2g's are cool..But I like the 3G better

The Galant got a 2.4L that was DOHC. The Spyder was SOHC as is the 3G RS/GS. I know of a few websites that discussions were on going from SOHC to DOHC.
