I bought the K&N Filter (not the air induction system), and a poweraide TBS. I was debating on getting the specailized pully system to increase horse power as well as an electric fan. Also I was thinking about a transfluid radiator. Has anyone tried these? If so what benifits, if any, were noticed?

If your truck has the TBI system, Check out CFM Technologies Web page. They should have what your looking for. http://www.cfm-tech.com/catalog/gm_tbi_performance_parts___accessories_126905_prod ucts.htm

How do you determine if you have a TBI? I have a 96 Z71 5.7ltr.

If your truck is a 96 or newer it has a vortec engine with central fuel injection, the 95 and older V8's are throttle body injection (TBI).

Thanks - I have always heard them call it a vortec, but what makes it a vortec?

The vortec engine is the same basic block as the TBI engine, but it has improved heads, that breath more freely. It has a rollor cam, and lifters, and newer fuel injection system. The 5.7 votec makes 255 hp and the 5.7 Tbi make 210 hp.

Thank you for that info, I was also wondering what the HP rating was - thanks.

what does the 5.0 vortec make as far as HP as opposed to the 5.0 TBI? Is TPI better or worse than TBI?

I think the vortec 5 liter makes 220 hp and the TBI 5 liter makes 160 hp. Tuned port injections is better for horse power, TBI is more reliable.

What is the differance between the 4x4 and the z71 besides the obvious (both are 4x4's)?

By transfluid radiator, do you mean transmission cooler? If you off road alot or tow/carry heavy loads, I would definatly reccomend it. It doesn't add and horsepower or torque, but it sure does keep the tranny running cooler!!
I would also consider the electric fan. I just bought dual 15" fans for my 454 and it made a huge difference in the engine temperature. It also did free up a little more torque as well. I would definatly reccomend it.

Thanks for that site, my 94 blazer needs some more power, despite its 281k miles.
